View Full Version : Reason(s) for your color choice?

Why is (are) the reason(s) why you have choose your yaris's color?

I choose silver because it easy to clean, it never look dirty (even when it is lol) and all scratches look less "bad" on silver....my too cents

It's a classical color, always looking good, but not "special", look conventional :frown:

And you??

I wanted a sedan and the first 5 spd we got in was red. So I took it home, my old car was junk and I needed something asap. Otherwise I probably would have got silver.

I like solid non-metallic paint colour. My first choice was actually white, second was red. The dealer only had red in auto w/power package, so there you go. Red it is!

I agree. Please see left:smile:. In addition to what you said, I also think that silver is the generic/default color. It has both an elegant and a low profile at the same time.

Blazing Blue because I like it and it's rare. At my purchase time, out of all northern Nevada Toyota dealership's Yarii stock only 2 were Blazing Blue... my manual LB and an auto sedan over 200 miles away.

Black LB for me. I looked and looked and thought black was the best color for the LB. Black hides all the panel lines and makes it look like one smooth piece of metal. (I don't like panel lines or pin stripes.)

I originally thought about Bayou Blue or Silver until I saw them on the street. The black sold itself to me.

Unlike my xB, this car actually gets cute comments!

i wanted a blazing blue LB at first because i think it's such a nice color, but i opted to go with a sedan. now, i wanted a flint mica sedan because it's a rare (imo) color that's not bland. there's color flakes if you look at one up close.

I wanted a flint mica sedan, but couldn't find a 5 speed listed anywhere within a few hours. I liked white in person so I bought it,and it was 1 of like maybe 3 sedan with a stick within a few hours of me. One of which wasn't an S model,so that left me with 2 choices pretty much in all of norcal. White or blue, never been real big on blue cars. I'm sure if I wanted a LB It would have been easier. I was tempted to get a silver LB that was on the lot. After my last car being black I am never going to buy another one, literally dirty 2 hours after a wash(lots of dust around here).

black sand pearl because, as someone mentioned earlier, pearl flakes on black is the shit. most black cars are metallic, but this one pearlescent. i know, i know, black is the hardest color to maintain (scratches show the easiest, dirt shows up the most, etc..), but have you washed and detailed the liftback?? it takes less than 20 minutes to wash, and less than 3 hours for a full detail job (wash, clay, rinse, paint clean, polish x 2, sealant x 2). when clean, black is the glossiest color...

--B

ps: no surprise, for our van, which is WAY harder to clean/detail and keep maintained, we chose white pearl, which hides dirt and scratches like crazy...

Another vote for Black. I wanted color coordinated side-mirrors without having to pay $2500 the RS model.

5 door model does look upscale in black, even though it's riding on hubcaps and 14' wheels.

Wanted white (I still think it is the nicest color on the LB), but over here it's only available with an automatic transmission, and I had to have a manual... so, it just had to be red, but I strongly considered the dark metallic blue that is also available here, very classy.

I didn't go to the dealer for a Yaris. I went for a used car just to lower my payments and ended up driving out of there with a new Yaris Liftback.

There were only two colors with a manual transmission. Bayou Blue and Red. I prefered Red over Bayou Blue.

I got Blazing Blue, there are several Toyota dealerships near me but only one Yaris and it was the blue beauty that i have named it Page (after  Jimmy Page  because calling it Jimmy would be alittle strange because im a guy.) My is metallic light green.

Green is not really my colour, i wanted Red, it really stands out. Though,
the dealer only have silver and green and the silver is 4wd, so i get the green

But after a few days of owning it i can't help thinking, green is such a clean colour. Melallic green looks like gold in a sun light. The longer i own it, the more i love my colour. And it so uncommon, not many people drive a green yaris LB. I've never seen one, my was imported from Japan.

I don't know, i just love my car

Silver here. Bayou Blue was my other choice, wanted something pale but NOT pure white so it wouldn't show road-grime just from driving to the gas station, but light enough it wouldn't turn into an over in the summer.

First though about getting a Bayou Blue one, because the colour slightly switches its tone depending on the angle and lighting. Didn't want to get a black one, because although it looks great when clean, it shows even the slightest layer of dust on it and you have to wash it often to keep it looking good (my last car was a black mica Mazda 323F BJ). Bright red seemed just wrong for an econobox- that colour's best left for Ferraris and firetrucks. Other colours just seemed bland.

So eventually I got the Sea Spirit blue Yaris (similar to Blazing Blue) and I'm really glad I did. Looks great and although I don't have to was it as often as a black car, it still needs washing often.

Went with bayou blue because it was a different colour of blue than you usually see. A more interesting/non-standard blue. And I thought that the bayou blue would look nicer than the blazing blue when I tinted my Yaris's windows.

In hindsight though, I REALLY wish I'd gone w/ white... its one of my favourite colours these days, and I saw my buddy's new Civic which was all pure white 1 month later and it really made me wish I'd decided to go w/ a white Yaris :(

Oh yeah, or I'd (now) love to have chosen a RED hatchback for the Mord-Sith factor.... it would have been SO APPROPRIATE!!! :) :)

My daughter chose black as she has never owned a black car.
Her two sisters and myself have had black cars. Black cars do get hot, with high temperature and high humidity in Queensland, but with air conditioning, good window tint and becoming expert at finding shaded or undercover parking it is bearable.
She expects this car to be more economical than her 4x4 (now sold) or her husband's highly modified V8 ute and V8 station wagon. I think her expectations may be exceeded by the Yaris.

Question about the black paint cars

When it chip they say it's white...is that white the primer or the actual bumper color underneath all that paint????

That's wierd if true. Under our pacific blue it's black on the bumpers.

I prefer silver for looking clean and showing marks the least, but we both agreed that pacific blue looked best in our opinion on the yaris sedan. I don't think there's a colour which looks bad on our cars either.

I wish it was a little more silvery like the mercedes blue, but it stays surprisingly clean looking compared to other colours and doesn't get nearly hot as my first car which was black with no a/c.

Meteorite Metallic, and I agree, it's easy to keep it looking clean, even if you haven't washed it in months. My husband has an '04 Pathfinder that's silver, and we've gone months before we asked eachother "when was the last time we washed it?" One good rain, and it's just like new! Plus, I want to blend in, not stick out, the 5.0 look for those who stick out... Plus, the scratches don't show anywhere near as much as one the solid colors, and RED is an anxiety color for me, I get stressed out just looking at red cars. No offense to those of you who like it, It's just a little much for me.

I got a Pearl Black LB because I actually got to pick! The only car I've ever had (for the last 5 years, damn station wagon!) was Blue, and I've always wanted a black car ^.^

My is Black because i hate to see my car shadow next to another clean wax looking black car.
Black will look good with any Window tinting Percentage. It's even look good with mirror tint or two tone tint.
It's can help em girls adjust their clothes when they pass by my car.

We live in Redding and it gets VERY hot in the summer. White is the best color for our area. The paint will last longer hopefully.

Meteorite Metallic--doesn't show the dirt or scratches as bad as the darker colors. Didnt' want white 'cause I had a white car for 14 years before the Yaris & birds seem to target white cars ;) Didn't want red (though I love red cars) 'cause I've wrecked every red car I've owned, Black is too hot in the south and figured I'd get bored of the blues too quickly. And the green is hideous!:barf:

I wanted a real color: not black, white or gray. So it was down to red or one of the blues. I got Bayou Blue because my wife's car is already red, and I thought the Bayou Blue looked a little classier than the Blazing Blue.

Barcelona Red with light interior...because my brain is preconditioned by the ads of the 4-door sedan...most of the time is shown as Red. I love it. It's very shiny...wife loves it too...so one less battle.

Is someone taking a poll/note on the colors? I think it will be interesting to see what is the most popular colors for the LB and the sedan.

I've ordered my car but I haven't received it yet. I have "paint issues" with my current car (96 Civic) so that greatly effected my decision about what color to go with. My Civic is forest green and trying to get a proper color match for repair work is really difficult because of slight natural fading that just happens over the years. Basically I got factory matched paint but that doesn't help that it's slightly lighter than what it was when new.

So here's my reasoning when I ordered my Yaris.

- All colors other than black or white are off the table because I don't want to deal with paint matching issues ever again and I dig black and white cars over other colors anyways.

- I live in coastal NC and it gets very hot and humid during the summer and we have an insane amount of pollen around here. That crossed black off the list right there.

- White will hide dirt very well and all the little scratches that are bound to happen should hopefully be minimized on a white car (I hope). Also, white with black tinted windows does look really good.

Black Sand Pearl... it came like that since I got the car used with 10k miles. Almost bought a used Blazing Blue.

If I had a choice, maybe polar white...

I chose meteorite metallic aka silver, because it resembled luxury to me and makes the car look more expensive. Lol even though its just a yaris not a lexus. Second choice would've been black, black looks very cool. Blue/red made me think the yaris was an RC car.

Absolutely Red.

barcelona red metallic, because i got a killer deal on it used. i was looking for a white or grey one, but the red is really nice looking and has grown on me.

I chose Bayou Blue color because of its hue, therefore; its ease to find or spot in a crowded parking lot. The blue is not too bright and metallic, and yet not too bland and dull... IMHO

I chose to get a Barcelona Red Metallic sedan mainly for more visibility on the road. I didn't want people not seeing my little car and accidentally running into me, as happens with a lot of dark grey, silver or darker colored cars. It also helps that it's a pretty classy color in its own right, and I really liked it.

Mine was the only manual hatch on the lot. At least white is cool in the Sun.

I chose Mica Silver (the dull silver) for my 2010 Yaris HB - so it'd match my wife's 09 RAV 4 LTD V4 - that way we could switch cars and people wouldn't notice too much (surprisingly very few people realized we had 2 diff cars!)

i chose the silver.we had a "moussy silver" that looks like light grey that i also liked, but i wanted the blue yaris!!:cry::cry:
the dealership told me that the blue color won't be imported to Israel in this specific model with the multimode or manual transmission with 100 HP..
People who bought the 87 HP yaris a year before me could have a much larger color choice.

It was either Blazing blue or Black sand for me. I picked the blazing blue since its makes the car look more fun and cheeky. I think cars like the yaris should include more "loud" colors.

Love the white and fint mica (Dark Gray), but I just feel that the Sedan "S" shows more of it's lines in Barcelona Red
It sucks under yellow/orange street lights Though!

If you look in the lower right corner of a post two blue boxes say "edit" and "quote"
that shade of blue is the color of my 2010 Yaris.
I chose this color because my 1998 Honda, Civic was gray. There were so many gray cars on crowded parking lots, I always had trouble finding mine.
Nothing is more embarassing than having the security guard drive you around the parking lot to try to find your car. It happend to me once or twice.

One good reason to have the keyless entry system. I can hit the panic
button, and hear my horn blasting for a few seconds. Or, if I know I am
close, I can hit the lock button to have the lights flash once.

I got white, and as I bought used I had to look a while. I got it, and the windows dark tinted, because it looks cool, literally and figeratively! Doesn't fade, and covers the dirt pretty much.

I havn't heard any mention of visiblilty issues in a color choice, and by that I mean other drivers seeing you better. Maybe with the daytime running lights not a big issue? But, I seem to remember some study done years ago, don't ask me where or when, and it showed silver was a color involved in lots of crashes

Since i crashed i decide to choose a color i'd never get bored.

The only red they had was a bare bones 5speed.

Mediterranean Mica because I've never had a red car before and at the time I thought it was destinctive. I now see a bunch of Toyota's everyday in that color, lol I still like it . Everytime I come outside I think, what a cute car.

I'm a private investigator & wanted the least conspicuous color I could get. That probably means silver/gray. My choices at the dealer were red or white, so I picked white, hoping it wouldn't stand out too much.

Nautical Metallic Blue,
Because I like this 'classy' colour.
However, if I'd known how pathetically soft the finish would be I'd have chosen a lighter colour to less show the scratches etc. It seems the slightest touch to the paint causes permanent, ugly damage.

why?
