okay, long story-short, i have two bites that made me hurt (got it while i was washing my car). so i went to Kaiser, waited and hour and a half, and paid a 10 dollar co-pay...and all for what...one and a half minutes speaking to the physician!? pure crap...anyway, he told me, and insisted that they were just mosquito bites, with somehow me being "more allergic" to this time around. :iono:

these two bites are pretty crazy! one made my left calve look so much bigger compared to my right, and the other bite makes it look like i broke my leg/ankle since they're both that swollen! they're starting to make my muscles feel taut and hurt again...i think i should go to sleep now. the Benedryl should start kicking in soon, hopefully.

Is there any possibility they are spider bites?

if it starts rotting away, i'll take a pic of it for ya guys. lol....but yeah, i asked if it was a black widow bite, they said no, and never mentioned anything else about spiders. that's why i was pissed, waiting that long and felt pressured in time (in and out i think is what they are, and no, not burgers, lol). oh well, that's Kaiser for ya.

i don't scratch my bites. i may, or may not put ice on it (same with what the physician told me, putting a warm, damp towel over them). i am taking allergy medicine tho.

Spider bites will have the two marks, plus after about 2-8 hrs it will hurt like a bitch. Only the Brown recluse and Black Widow well along with the Hobo spider can do any damage. If its any other spider bite it will go away. The others you will know about. I had a phobia of the Brown recluse once and went ape shit on research on spiders.

Kaiser SUCKS! This happened when I lived in California:

Over an 18 month period, I had 3 visits to Kaiser because of a tiny patch of dry skin (on my right temple) that just wouldn't go away and sometimes bled. Each time Kaiser dismissed the problem as dermatitis and sent me home with some useless cream.

When I moved to Florida, I had to have a routine physical in order to teach. The GP noticed the dry skin on my temple, stated he didn't like the look of it, and referred me to a dermatologist. With a simple biopsy, that dry skin was quickly diagnosed as skin cancer. I underwent 4 hours of surgery (and 16 stitches) to remove all the affected tissue.

My suggestion is to consult with a private practice physician if you have any medical probelms that aren't being addressed to your satisfaction at Kaiser.

Next year you get Hillary care then you can wait 2 or 3 days.

I only hope we do get "Hillary care", then at least we'll have some kind of basic medical care for the hundreds of thousands of Americans without any medical coverage whatsoever... me included! USA... what a disgrace!

hahaha, i don't believe we have the brown recluse in this part of Cali??? but yeah, doesn't really appear to have any fang marks, but i do question the one on my calve. i can't tell if it's just my skin or not.

yeah, why can't "we" be like Canada, national health-care for all, right?

Yeah, why can't "we" be like every other developed (and many developing) countries in the world and have (at least basic) health-care coverage for all?

Trust me, the Canadian health care system is a joke right now.

You don't want to be like Canada in this regard.

Canada is going to have huge problems unless they start going towards a city based government versus a national based one.

When I lived in a much smaller town the Canadian health care system rocked. No waits, great service. Now that I live in the GTA the service is wretched. You wait at least an hour past any appointment you've made and if you have no appointment you're waiting several hours for a few seconds of their valuable time. My wife's doctor just moved to an office with 6 waiting rooms seats, 2 doctors and the wait times.... last time we waited for over 2 and a half hours standing for what I timed as a 1 minute and 45 second meeting.

You don't want to be like Canada here, you want to be like some European countries though.

because if we were like Canada, prices will go up.. incl. car isurance! heh.

so how's the leg now?? is it any better after you tried the home remedies?

Canada is in fact one of the best countries for healthcare, but the system suffers from intrinsic problems that need attention and have needed attention for some time now.

wow, anyway, i'm pretty sure it's a whole lot better than the US.

What the physician told you was most likely true, and there probably wasn't much else he could say, considering he knows what he is doing. The shitty part is that you had to pay for it and waste all that time waiting.

Kaotic Lazagna
09-12-2007, 04:01 AM
yeah, it is probably true, but all he could tell me as to why it made my entire calve swollen was that it sometimes happens. i never had a mosquito bite do that before.

well.. i've been bitten for years by mosquitos and they usually went away fast. But after a bit, every time I get bitten by mosquitos, it tends to swell up really big then once it goes away, it looks like a bruise. your body reaction to something can always change.. just like how a person can drink milk for most of their life then bam, they're lactose intolerant. our bodies are strange..

Kaotic Lazagna
09-12-2007, 04:47 PM
heh, i guess that's a first for me. oh, i became lactose intolerent because i stopped drinking milk for a couple of years. hehehe.
