Yeah~~~
After 8 weeks of waiting I finally see my wheels coming to the office. The pick is not really the best of what I want because things get crazy when everytime I ask my wife to chip-in some "idea & fund".

Ignore the Paul guy in the pic... :wink: he is just a wheel molester from local 300z group.

It was done two hours after shop closed. Thx to wheel and brake techs stay over-time to paint calipers and put up the wheels. I also washed the car during late evening. I will post 1 pic tomorrow. (.... ok 2 pics ) :redface:

Well, the front and rear wheels have same off set, but the trick is on different center pieces to fake the "stagger" and "deeper lip" look at back. (thanks to James @ Tanabe).

It is a custom setup up and this a business mai-do back to Tanabe.:thumbsup:

Beats me! I could not find anything even in JDM dealer's manual either. :confused:

UPS labeled 19 lbs... the box is heavy duty grade and with multi-layers of cardboards for international freight protection... my guess 15 is lbs for each wheel.

It is 3-pcs forged in 16" and I think 15 lbs worth its durability on trac. :thumbsup: I drive granny-speedy only....:redface:

Actually there was a fight between me and my JDM wife. She asked my company to import this wheel for the Yaris but I refused because it max at 14" only.

Okay, so what's the size and offset, and what size tire are you running?

These 15X8"s came in at 15lbs so those 16"s which are probably a bit narrower should be within a pound of the 15X8 SP2's.

But, I don't understand why you would want to "fake the stagger" and have your wheels look deeper in the back when you could have taken advantage of the staggered look you were going for and actually staggered the offsets. Just about every set-up Vitz I see in Japan staggers offsets by 5 to 10mm's.

Stagger set up proly won't help anything to this car, and fake stagger is a fashion in Japan!
:laughabove: True, plus me and Tanabe guys just want to have more fun this car. The goal is making it a fashion toy on street and also allow tire rotation possible as a daily drive car.

So here is the recipe:
16x7J+39 on front and rear, with Std & Shallow faces for front and rear.
205/50/16 Bridgestone RE750 87W 340AA
On Tein Coilover - Basic
*The tire size will not work if spring-lowered!*

The front tires are flushed with front fender (maybe 1+mm outside). Rear upper portion of fedner has 1 finger gap with the tire because of the round tire sholder, but wheel lip-flang is acutally flush with the fender. Bottom portion of rear tires stick out 15mm off o/e mud guards.

I was planning to insert 10mm spacers at back but since the rear bottom tire sticks out 15mm off the mud guard edge... no_go on this.

Hope this info help some to get nice JDM wheels. :smile:

Well, the stagger just makes things look a little more even back to front. Many Japanese go with a set-up like ET42mm front and ET37mm rear, for example.

You said that you have ET39mm back and front, but that the rear wheels are designed to look deeper. So, the front and rear wheels are in fact different even though they have the same offset... is that correct? With this in mind, how can you rotate? (I'm not a fan of tire rotation anyway, but you mentioned it, and it doen't make sense to me with your design choice).

Now that you know how ET39mm fits the Yaris with 205/50 rubber, would you have chosen a slightly higher offset if you could do it over again?

Yeah, if the tires stick out way past the rear mudguards, it would look kind of stupid.

Yeah, same off set but rear has deeper lip (1+" vs 1.5+" front/back) because it uses different thickness of center piece. The rotation still have to done through re-mounting the tires. It is good to have free labor service since I work in the shop.. heehee.

Hmm... more about off sets.. I would not make any adjustment on this up since all wheels flush out with fenders. Tires stick outside of the mud guard is pretty normal these days because autobody curves inward from fender to lower edge of the the body and especially our cars are extra rounded.

I can't find my book now but I remember in HyperRev108 recommends +37 on 16" wheels, and dont forget that offset accuracy varies depending on wheel manufacturers. For show cars, I love to see wheels have minimum gaps between calipers and the wheel spoks, and also allowing max lips. I think lowering to +33 on this wheel on the front is possible.
