Finally got around to getting some audio done. Kenwood 7" head unit (with Sirius, bluetooth and navigation), JBL speakers throughout (10" sub) and a JBL Touring amp. Had a custom box built for the rear deck -- what you see in the pics is all one new piece back there, all the the stock deck parts are in my garage now.
I decided to try component speaker up front, as I really like the sibilance and high end from tweeters. Sounds really good!
Only thing left to do is a grill or protective mesh over the sub.

thanks! The box was pretty easy, just a lot of pieces with screw and glue to fit in the entire deck area. The audio shop did the cutouts, carpet and installed all the components (I'm not very good at that). Thumps pretty good!

What did you do with the crossovers for the components up front? Is there plexi over the amp or is the amp unprotected? BTW looks top notch!

crossovers will fit in door, and its pretty obvious theres plastic on the amp.

sorry Punch, no plastic, that is the top of the amp. I like that amp because you can put LED's inside to light it up. I'll be protecting that and the sub with something "meshy" soon.

oh i understand the amp comes that way; clear, but I think the original question about it, the poster thought the guts of the amp were exposed...

Obviously the internals of the amp are not exposed...

oh i get it about the amp -- the top is smoked plexiglass.
Yes, I call AAA -- can't remember the last time I needed them for a flat tire, though!

+1, even if I got a flat, IMHO there is no way in hell I would drive around on a spare :bellyroll:

Very nice looking. With the stock cargo cover it would be stealth. Question: How's the imaging with the tweeter that close to you on the drivers side? Seems like that would be a problem...

Just wondering, is there a gap on either side of that unit? Or...no? lol
I can't tell cause this screen is wierd, and the angle you took the pic in doesn't show it as well as maybe a straight on shot would... :)

picky picky, LOL. I'll try and take a better shot. There is a black plastic housing around the unit

The tweeters sound GREAT, very nice sibilance, very even imaging. I think the sound bouncing off the window helps.
There is a difference with the window down, as you might expect -- so with just the driver's window down, it's a little unbalanced.

ok then so why your first post you ask if the amp has plexi on it???
why would you cover a clear plastic amp, with clear plastic???

Nice and clean. How is the sound with it being in the former spare tire hole?

very nice big bass, but still a tight sound with the 10" sub.
