Hi.. I'm new here.. Just posting some pics on a retrofit I did for a member of this board (tca4).

Projectors: Infinity FX35/45 bi-xenon (textured lens) :frown:
Bulbs: Philips D2S 4300k (85211+)
Ballasts/Igniters: resued from previous h4 hid kit (xetronic)

I used Infinity FX35/45 bi-xenon projectors with some textured/fuzzy lenses. I was hoping to get some clear ones but this was what I got in the mail :frown:. I reused the ballasts and igniters from an existing pnp kit the owner had to save costs. In order to reuse the ballasts from the pnp kit, a pair of amp-d2s adaptors were required. I also made a harness to activate the high beam solonoids as well as to keep the ballasts from turning off when the high beam is engaged. The shrouds are made from 4"-2" pipe reducers I found at Rona.

I didn't get a chance to take any nice beam shots so maybe tca4 can post some in the future.

Here are the pics!

Was aimed kind of low when I took this pic. I reaimed them for tca4 later on.

Thanks! It's not too hard to do but it sure takes a lot of time. This is my first time working on a yaris as well. The shrouds took a long time to do because the only tools I used to trim them was a hack saw and a file. Sanding the chrome off of the reflector was also really difficult due to all the curves and bumps. I'm just glad that everything worked out at the end.

should do some more retrofits on extra headlights and sell them ^^ =P

Parts alone was around US$300. This includes projectors, bulbs, relays, wires, paint, etc.. This would have been more expensive if ballasts/igniters were required.

no ballast? i thought every HID kit requires a ballast?

man, i can get a pair of TSX that come complete with bulb holder clips, reflectors, and newdessicant pouches to prevent moisture build-up in the headlight housing for 100 bucks. i was wondering if i can use them with the OEM lights...sorry for the tangent.

I would, except it takes too much time to do these retrofits. It's also hard to get the rotation correct without having the headlight mounted on the car. Maybe if I had more free time..

The owner already had a ballast and igniter from a pnp kit. But yes, all hids require a ballast and igniter(some built into the ballast).

That's a pretty good deal.. The yaris headlights are pretty big.. I'm sure you can fit tsx projectors in. I chose the FX projectors because they're easy to work with and have high beams unlike the TSX. If the yaris had a seperate high beam reflector I would have chosen some TSXs or some other projector.

I just recalculated the prices..

Online parts - (Prices in US)
FX Projector - $70 (shipping $30)
Philips D2S 4300k - $65 (shipping $10)
H4 to D2S adaptor - $30 (shipping $15)
Duties/Taxes/Brokerage Fees = i forogt..

Online Parts Total = US$220

Other Parts (Prices in Canadian)
H4 socket (female) - $3.99 x2 = $7.98
Male Disconnects - $1.70
Relay 30AMP - $5.89 x2 = $11.78
Ring Terminals - $1.69
Wire - $4.69
M4 nylock nuts - $0.22 x16 = $3.52
Relay Socket - $2.00 x2 = $4.00
M4 stainless screws - $0.75 x8 = $6.00
ABS Reducing Coulping 4-2" - $5.89x2 = $11.78
Rubber Washers - $0.95 x4 = $3.80
Krylon Primer - $4.49
Krylon Fusion Paint (gloss blk) - $6.99

PST = $4.79
GST = $4.10
Parts Total = CAD$77.30

dang! but then again, that's with the HID kit (right?) and the mounting hardware with paint.

The owner already had the ballasts and igniter so the price I've listed includes only the projectors, bulbs, wiring adaptor, custom wiring harness, and paint.
