ok so i've been healing up from a bike accident (two weeks so far recovery) and i took my car out for a drive with my mom and my friend. the car's running fine from point A to point B but when we start heading over to point C the car starts crapping out (this is a 2007 Liftback bought on Jan 31, 07.) So i have to stop. I try restarting the car and it felt like trying to get a manual car going from a stop sign when you release the clutch and start applying the throttle (that little friction point where the RPM drops between 1k and less.) So i call AAA insurance for roadside assistance. They send over a truck which was no use and then they send over a towing truck which helped us bring the car to a dealership since it's under warranty.
The guy at the dealership said that I'll have to wait til next Wednesday to get my car because they're overbooked >< And about three of the mechanics were complimenting my car ^^
All in all, I lost my job interview, my friend lost his driving instruction and my mom lost the chance to see her friend....great Friday and i lose my car for about a week >< ok i'm done typing haha

Any phone service where you were? A quick ring-a-ding and you might of gotten a second chance at that interview. Make the call with a legitimate reason and it may bump you up with some integrity.
Tell them you had bought a new car for reliability so you wouldn't miss work when you got that new job and that Toyota has let you down.
Good luck on any new opprotunities that come your way and let us know about the car.

No more information was given since the lady said that the car wasn't under my moms name.....so I'm waiting for their call and i'll update this post ><
2nd opinion right now is that it might have been to the fact that i disconnected the BuddyClub grounding kit on the car but I don't see how that would affect the car in that bad of a way

there was no other option.........the Blitz air filter basically let too much air flow into the car which caused it to trip some other codes since it's hooked to a heating mechanism and something else. they had to replace the MAF and then run the car around the block with a computer attached to it. after that it was ok but they had to clear all the bad codes.
$265 for new MAF sensor
$135 for initial inspection was all that i was charged for....the guy didn't have me charged for labor so total was $398.92......
a little under the estimated $500 so i guess a little saved is more than nothing.......next up for me is a real CAI instead of a replacement air filter >< possibly AEM

that's cool, some money saved in pocket. if you don't want to deal with any problems again, i would (i know it's a lot more money than necessary), buy a TRD CAI from a certified dealer (or from the dealership = $$$$), and have a dealer install it. that way, if something goes wrong, you're not at fault. anyway, the TRD one is made by AEM (if i remember correctly).

heh, unless the dealer can prove, properly prove with tests, that your aftermarket part is the cause of a problem, it is illegal for them to void any warranty.
if you want to know more, google Magnussen Moss Act.

alright just got off the phone with the toyota rep that's helping me. got transfered to her tech foreman and he told me that one or more of my "aftermarket" electrical wiring is tapped into a main power unit that feeds the speedometer (i really forgot the name of the item he called it so i'm trying my best to describe it) or something rather. he also said that i have about three or four trouble codes being shoot out form my cars computer. something to do with camshafts, something to do with the power steering, something to do with the speedometer and the rest of the electronics and something else. so i had to tell him all the stuff i've added to the car (auto start two way pager clifford 50.5x alarm, foglights, alpine headunit) and now they have to do more diagonogstics (bad spelling) on my car. ><

ouch, (can't remember if you said this), but did you install everything you added yourself? if not, go back to the place you went to and tell them your situation. not sure if that'll do anything, since, although i hate to say it, Toyota is getting closer to pinpointing the problems to your mods.

i never touch the wiring by myself so i always went to a shop that's been doing wiring and tinting windows for 12 years. i don't know the exact location of the place so yea but all i know is that it's near bayview hunter's point (dont want to take bus there) and yea....the toyota technician is getting closer to pointing the problem with my mods ><

hmmm, can you call the place and tell them the situation? if they've been dealing with wiring for 12 years, they should know better and not mess up your car. also, if you call them and they deny anything (and you have proof that you had work done there), check the Better Business Bureau to see if they're under their supervision, and file a complaint that their work has caused a serious problem with your vehicle. be prepared though, they will ask you to fax them paper work.
you can also check with the Bureau of Automotive Repair.
hope everything works out for ya.
