So, I picked up my Megan coilovers last night. Initial impression is that they are well made. They look pretty good, and they machining, etc. looks very nice. I'll be installing these on Sunday, so I'll have more to report then.

You are installing yourself, correct? I'm very interested in your results and driving impressions afterwards--please take pics if you get a chance.

Cool, glad they came in. Let me know how it goes (and where & how much you paid). I might go this route. If scionlife is having a install day and I get some coilovers I know I could use some help. I am also curious how the ride is. The roads here are well maintained (with the exception of a few low traffic city streets) but my Yaris is my daily driver. Looking forward to those pics

I'll take plenty of pics. I paid $875 from Speed Concept in Aloha, OR (www.speedconcept.com).

What made you go for the Megan coils over the Tein or Cusco coilovers?

The deciding factor was adjustability. For $25 more, I was able to get 32-way ajdustable shocks.

I really wasn't too sure about Megan, since I always thought they made, well, junky parts. However, everything I've read about the Megan coilovers has been positive.

I'll let you know more once I get them on.

If I was going to order online, I would've ordered them from you. However, I was supporting a local business.

I think I am going Tein.... I hear they have the softer ride.... Hey it is a DD and I am rockin 17's and the roads in the north suck, but I need a suspension that can take some corners hard

I'm def. going tein as well - I wont ever purchase a megan product... But i'd still be curious to see a review - i've heard they ride pretty rough.

I literally said the same thing. "There's no way I'm putting any Megan products on any of my cars." However, I then thought to myself -- this is silly. If it's a quality product, it's a quality product. I was talking with the guys at the place I bought them, and I said I thought Megan stuff was, well, junk. And they said a lot of their earlier stuff was, and they mostly made strut bars, and such. However, these coilovers are made by the same factory that makes Buddy Club and Apexi coilovers.

Everywhere I've seen a discussion on the Megan coilovers, I've heard nothing but good. Lots of reviews on Honda-Tech, Infiniti G35s on Megans, etc.

I went almost 100% JDM stuff on my xB. Tein springs, Espelir Exhaust, A-Tech and Rays wheels, etc. However, when it comes down to it, if Megan makes a quality product, I don't care who (or where) it's made. I want performance, and the Megans are supposed to have that in spades, and aren't much more than the Teins. You just get more for your money. You might not get the "baller" MaD tYtE JDM brand association, but if it outperforms what's currently available for the Yaris, then that's fine with me. Although there are other adjustable suspensions on the market, they're a lot more expensive, and must be imported from Japan.

Now, I'm not ripping on the Teins – I'm sure they're great for daily use. However, I wanted something stiffer that was adjustable, especially for nearly $900.

I'm putting these in tomorrow (9/23), and will post pics and a review shortly thereafter.

I installed mines... but the front part was REALLY HARD to do it.. and still we need to do it again, because doesn't look right. Any DIY on installing Megan Coilovers?

Thirty-Nine

I'm actually having a bit of an issue installing the rears. I think I might have to utilize more of the original shock's body (e.g. the part that goes over the shock piston?). There's too much thread that pokes up through the openings when the car sits on its wheels.

kapo

No problems with the rears here, But Im running out of thread to raise the car.. and the car is already low..

Finally, in my case.. the front, I have one concern... if I needed to use the bump stop or not..

Revive this thread from the dead...

How do you like the Megan coilovers?

Thirty-Nine

I like them a lot. I've had them for nearly 12,000 miles I'd say, and they're great. No issues to speak of.

Like I've said before though: If you're looking for a cushy ride, look elsewhere. The Megans are stiff, even on full soft. However, I have been very happy with the performance that they've added to the vehicle's handling, especially for the price.

Installation is not too hard, although I had a heck of a time installing them because I didn't know exactly what I was doing. However, once you realize which parts you need to retain from the OEM setup, it's quite simple. The rears are extra easy.

The only modification I needed to make was to cut down the front dampening adjusters by about an inch so they'd fit under the windshield wiper cowl, and so they could be adjusted.
