:frown:
First post here, wish is was under better circumstances. Got rear ended, they did not hit me very hard, but I was on a downward sloping hill. Pushed me into the back of a construction truck with a raised flatbed. Totaled the car. Will be getting a 2008 in a few weeks as a replacement.

I have pretty bad bruising from the seat belt, and the airbag bruised my chest, but other than that, and the emotional scarring, I am fine. Thanks for the welcome.

Dayum! I'm sorry that you had to go through that but I'm glad you're alright. The silver lining is that we now have another testament to the Yaris' safety. As far as we know there has not yet been a Yaris driver involved in an accident or wreck that didn't walk away from it.

I am getting a 2008 HB. Same color as well. Only down-side is that it doesn't have the power package I want, but I really can't wait 90 days for a car, so I will have to settle for the base model. Oh well.

wish I could, but renting a car for three months is not feasible for me at this time.

well not exactly. The insurance company will pay the value of the car, (12,227) less the deductible to the lien holder. There is still a small balance, which GAP insurance should cover. Then I just get a new loan and start all over again.

so how much do you have to pay out of your pocket?
bethd127

just the $500 deductible. That is because the other driver has a crappy insurance company. My company is going to have to fight to get it back.

hearing that about the gap insurance makes me feel better about having gotten it myself...i turned it down along with the extended warranty a couple times when dealing with the finance guy but, on the third discount i couldn't say no...i ended up getting it for way cheaper and this is a perfect example of how it can save you some $ in the worst case scenario...sorry about the car, like everyone said though, at least you'll be rockin an '08 soon...

I don't even remember the GAP insurance being offered. Then again, we were there when it was closing so it went by really fast...
but there's GAP insurance on the boyfriend's car at least..

Ack...
I hope you make a quick recovery, both emotionally and from the bruising. Any accident. no matter what the size of the car is a scary thing.

think that is the worst Yaris wreck yet.... but hey can you still get to your car? so you can snagg some random parts off of it... like the ECU :)

It just looks bad because it was at a body shop and they took it apart to estimate it and then totaled it. Note front support has been unbolted not ripped off.
Glad you're okay. Welcome to Yaris World and please post pics of your new ride.

true, but the car was actually embedded under the end of the flat bed in front of me. When they went to tow it, the flat bed tried to drive away and it simply pulled the car with it. They had to rip off the front bumper to separate the car. And yes, thank god for Gap. The only things I was allowed to take from the car were what I had added, no parts, ect. At least I won't have to pay for new mats!

Usually they wanna get ya for the extra money at signing, but the GAP makes it to where if you owe $20,000 on a car and total it and its worth $12,000 the insurance fills that in and they pay ya for what ya owe on it and not what its worth so then you would be out $8,000 without it. I was flipped on a truck and had GAP and the salesman told me I should total it on purpose to get the money...NO JOKE TRUE STORY.
Shit, I declined the GAP insurance.

I actually asked them what would happen if I drove the car off the lot and someone smashed into me (saw it happen to someone else). I wasn't aware what gap insurance was called at the time, but they clued me in and I felt it was worth the few extra bucks a month. And if my car gets stolen they pay off what insurance doesn't pay, and I get a cool $5,000 for a down payment on a new car.

You can actually buy gap insurance from other companies in case you declined the gap insurance when you bought the car..
