The dealer get reimbursed by Toyota for warranty work. In some cases the dealer can lose money, but in most cases the dealer makes money.

I'm hoping to never need the warranty. :-) My Subaru only needed to go in for a reprogramming of the ECM because the cruise control would drop out. Our old Toyota (which the Yaris replaced) only had one minor repair that couldn't be counted as maintenance in its entire 170k miles that we owned it, and that was well out of warranty.

Thompsons Toyota should've gone to Folsom Lake, they were offering me a better deal and Thompsons said they could match then when I got there they changed my saleman and he said they couldn't do any better then MSRP. It was only a $600 diff and the sales tax is less in this county but still, the unwilling to match a competitor gets to me.
