Transmission versus Gears

Forgive my ignorance. Does transmission fluid lubricate the "gears" as well, or is there a separate gear oil/grease? Thanks.

Yeah there is a difference auto trannies take transmission fluid & standards take gear oil , most here use a synthetic gear oil as it improves the shifting in the gear box.........

Ok, so I have a manual transmission. So, do I need just one type of lubricant, or two?

You just need gear oil.. Manual says 75w90
