I got the '08 Yaris Liftback, and I chose the convinience package, which doesn't have power anything. So do I need some special system to get keyless entry and remote start? :iono: I was checkin out Circuit City, they have a nice little DEI system, but I pops up that I need the Immobilzer Bypass which is like 80$, I wanted to know if my key has a chip or not? Does anyone know? Thanks!

^^^ That's the product I'm looking at...:hitcomputer:

Looks like that product is a remote starter which coincidentally also unlocks the power locks. If you don't have power locks now, it will only start the car. You could modify yours and add the actuators inside each door, to "pop" the lock, and this could work with that remote setup.
There is another company you may wish to contact, called Autoloc, call them and they'll advise you in the right direction. Good luck!

It won't auto start a 5-speed. I'm not saying it can't be done (my truck does it) but no installer will put it in on a 5-speed. I had to install my own. Power locks are a breeze to put in. I like the Autoloc kit but thats just my opinion. They have great instructions.

It's an auto, but thanks for the help. I think I will price out some actuators, I don't want to bugger up the door much, so hopefully I'll find a good place, either Circuit City, or Best Buy to hook me up with installation and a little help. I appreciate the help from you guys!

You shouldn't see anything more on the doors after the actuators short of a pdl switch. If you are content on going to a chain store, please, please, please, ask to see pics of previous installs. I don't want to see you dissappointed!! I have had to do alot of re-work from shops (chain or private). Ask as many questions as you feel nesesary and be as specific as possible as to what you want. I hope this helps!!

I guess I won't need the bypass, since my key doesn't have a chip, I wasn't sure if I would, I just picked up "Chub" from the Dealer yesterday, so i hadn't seen the key, or asked if it had a chip. I was so glad to know it doesn't, since that ads like another 80$ to keyless install.
