So, today, 5 DAYS AFTER GETTING MY CAR!! I got hit from the back by a crazy old lady driving a friggin huge ass boat!! WTF? How do people get through life having now idea where their car starts and stops?!! THere is NO WAY she could have fit into the spot next to me pulling striaght in, let alone cock eyed from the side! Way too wide, and too dam fast! Seriously! Then, after she complained about not liking her car, she proceeded to go through all of the "things not to say after you've just hit someone"....like
"I don't think I did that":bs:
No, my car just lunged forward, and would have gone further had I not been in it with my foot on the brake! It's a new feature, jumping cars!
"It's not bad, just a scratch":bs:
Right, well, regardless, it snapped some of the clips, and I'll be getting a new F@#$!! bumper!
"You were parked wrong":bs:
Uh, put your glasses on lady, I'm between the white lines, and my car is TINY!! If you can't fit, DON't TRY and then BLAME ME for your bad eye sight!
"I've never been in an accident":bs:
That doesn't matter, this is now, and yes you have! Your insurance will be going up, Merry Christmas!!
I was very respectful, and calm (although wanting to cry and scream obscenities) but serious, and just wanted to get the information, and go to my ins agent. Thankfully, my best friend happens to be my ins. agent and I got the claim in within the hour of it happening, and it should be in the works!
Without further ado, here are the pics, they don't look like much, but, if I hadn't had my foot on the brake, I would have ended up in the concrete pole in front of me, with probably 2 deployed air bags, and a smooshed front, so it could have been worse, but I've only had him 5 days!

Doh! I'm sorry to hear that. :frown:
I'm glad you're alright, though, and I hope your insurance rate doesn't go up.

What!?! oh no no no, that can't happen! I'm so sorry... :frown:
Oh man...I know just what you mean about older drivers sometimes... there are several retirement places in my neighborhood, and some of those folks are all over the road, probably whacked out on like 12 prescriptions

Welll...better talk to your agent. I may be imagining this.... but the way I think it works is, you make a claim with your insurance company, then they get their money back from the old lady's company.
So basically you've made a claim, even if it wasn't your fault. Some insurance comapnies used to penalize you for that...not sure if yours will though... hope not.

I have no idea how your insurance company works, but every other one I've been around raises your rates any time you make a claim, whether you were at fault or not.
That's why when my Yaris got hit a few months ago I never even talked to my insurance company. I worked strictly with the other guy's insurance company, and created my claim with them.
My car was fully repaired and my own insurance company was none the wiser.

That sucks! I can't even put into words how I would feel if someone did that to my baby. I was pissed from someone hitting me in the parking lot and that was a tiny ding!
Sorry to learn about that! It is nice that you stayed cool. Hope insurance will fix everything and all will be fine again soon.

thats sad to hear >_<.
I know how you feel. I hate senior citizen who cant drive but still try to....and the other majority that many people know who cant drive.
I would've slapped her if she said..."its just a scratch". You should do what I do in crowded parking areas....park away from any obstruction..
Many people park as close as possible to their destination, but from past experience, I've learned that i rather walk a mile to my destination and back than to have a bunch of shopping carts or "asian" drivers scratch or dent my cars w/ their oh so nice BMW and Lexus all around.
I too got hit within couple weeks right after getting my car. Some latino lady...reversed into my front even after i honked in college parking garage..
I told her...."i honked and you still kept backing up, did you not see me?"
she relies..."I didnt back up, i reversed...."
Me- "thats the same thing"
Wonder how people get their driver's license anyways~

I've done that before! Works like a charm!
With my insurance company, I think I get so many claims (only 1 a year I think), anything more than that, my rate goes up..even if it wasn't my fault.
Sorry to see Chubs get hurt! Hopefully it all works out!
Sorry to hear about your car.. I think it depends on your insurance on whether your rate would go up..

The most irritating part of the whole thing IS that I initially dropped my passenger off at the entrance (because she was on crutches):frown: and then I parked WAY WAY AWAY, ALL ALONE in a totally different parking lot, with no other cars around, SAFE!.... Then, since we had purchased 4 cases of wine:biggrin:, and other stuff (two buck chuck, charles shaw wine from trader joes, good stuff, cheap) I went to get the car (bad idea) , to pick up the wine and passenger, and parked with the rest of the people who hate their cars.....I had JUST finished loading up my chubby:wub:, got in, put on my belt, put my foot on the brake, turned around to look behind me, and BANG! Crazy old lady!!!
From now on, I'm bringing two orange cones with me, one for each space on either side of me when I park ALONE on the Farthest side of the lot!

I know that Mass is unlike any other state in terms of auto ins. so hopefully it will be in my favor, I can't IMAGINE what I would have done had I not actually been IN the car, because if no one was there, I am sure she'd have RAN, and I'd be screwed!
Nice name btw chubby
hmm. that's what i do in the school parking.. park so ridiculously far but somehow one person would just want to park too close to my car. grrr.
or if i have to park closer to campus, i'd park between cars and take a picture. lol. i know, my baby jade makes me paranoid

one of my friends husbands does that, if he HAS to park next to someone, he takes pics with his phone of their plates, and then walks all the way around the car before getting in, and scours his car ('02 VW GTI 1.8T) for any nicts or scratches, it seems anal, but seriously, so many people are inconsiderate, they need to learn not to whack other people's car and think they can get away with it, it's retarded!

although you do have to admit, alot of stereotypical comments about bad drivers are true, I'm not trying to be mean, and I'm not predjudice, but whenever I wonder about a persons sanity and driving ability, they turn out to be the steroetype (asian, chinese, japanese, or indian (dot, not feather), I'm sure I do alot of "white american girl" stuff they find irritating :iono:

I'm Asian, I have never scratched or dented others cars, and I don't drive a oh so nice BMW and Lexus
no offense man. I'm asian too. Just speaking of the "others"......
btw, i live in the silicon valley, and thats what its mainly consisted of~
and then walks all the way around the car before getting in, and scours his car ('02 VW GTI 1.8T) for any nicts or scratches,
I've been doing that since I got my first car. I do it before walking away from my car and before getting back in. Need to carry a paintball gun and start smacking people's car windows with it if they park too close to my car ^_^

same here, my rates never went up but it may be different than you. also when you got in the wreck you didn't give her any of your info right? NEVER give them your info if it wasn't your fault, no matter what they say. You don't know what kind of bullshit they're going to try to claim. If they refuse to give you theirs cause you won't give yours, call the cops to the scene and explain whats going on.
NEVER give your shit to them.

lol racist, why can't we all get along and just say that its ignorant people we hate, not people of a certain race that drive like douchebags.

yeah, bad drivers come from all different backgrounds.
but it's those damn old people!!!! lol
(now i'm an age-ist)
but seriously, lots of old folks are obsessed with large vehicles (crown vic, anyone?), and as they get older they really should be driving smaller vehicles that are easier to navigate with failing eyes, ears and reflexes)

I agree I've seen all different people driving like bafoons, it's not racially specific, like today for instance, I was driving on my side of the road, and an AMERICAN IDIOT was in his big ol' Ford truck, and came over the line, right at me, and when I gave him a honk to wake him up he LAYED on his horn back at me, um, DUH, James Bond, in america we drive on the Right side of the ROAD!!

I talked to my ins. agent yesterday, and according to Mass ins. laws, I won't be surcharged for filing a claim, especially since I got the other woman's information, and I was obviously NOT at fault, seeing as how I was freakin' parked at the time. Thank goodness, I couldn't deal with another cash loss on my end.
