The cabin seems to be really solid. Which is a good thing when it comes to a wreck.

dareyou2 .. SO Sorry to see your car get crumpled SO SO early in its life!!! Are you planning on getting another one soon? VERY glad u walked away unhurt !

Please post this on the forums at www.ozecho.com (autralian yaris owners also very welcome here).

The above photo is truely a good demonstration that the safety tests done are extremely accurate. Was your Yaris with the 7 Airbag kit? Or the STD twin airbags?

Solid.
Good piece of mind. I haven't seen a crashed up Yaris yet.
Glad to see that it holds up.

looks like both bags deployed. 763 kms on the clock and off to the scrap heap it goes.

Reminds me of a story I heard the other day.

Someone locked their keys in their car so they call a "professional". Said person sticks a slim jim down the door & sets off the side airbags, which set off the driver's airbag, which causes a chain reaction & deploys every airbag in the vehicle. Vehicle's now a write off.

Now the company doesn't use slim jim's anymore. They pry the door open just enough to insert an inflatable device which opens the door even further allowing a third tool to unlock the door.

there was a good photo from quebec that had a yaris hit from the side, there wasn't much cabin intrusion, but whoever posted it didn't post the speed or situation of the accident.

That is the most comforting(as in I'm glad it is safe) thing and yet the most heartbreaking thing I have ever seen.

Deer > Yaris

Also, just a note: The Yaris scored 4 stars in the frontal collision but only 3 stars in side impact.
