YW Florida Meet! Help!

Well, you guys asked for it, I am trying to make it a reality.

We need to find a neutral site in Florida to try and setup a state wide Yarisworld meet our members. I figure we can meet at a state park or something and all bring 1 item, something to eat/drink. Enough for many to share.

My logic is due to we have enough people in the state to do mini meets like once every 3 months or so. If not shorter periods between. Its healthy as a regional forum to meet the faces behind the names! I recently met tehjesta when he came down from Virginia. Was a awesome thing to meet someone who has a similar passion for a simple little car as I.

So IF everyone could post here if they are OK with this idea first off. We can get some input if this concept would be even do-able.

I recon we can try and plan it towards the Beginning of December. So it will be pleasent outside, sometime in the afternoon.

Here are a couple state parks I have in mind:
1.Skyway Fishing Pier: 4905 34th Street South, #5000
St. Petersburg, Florida 33711

This location doesnt have any picnic area, but offers a great location, and scenery. where we could actually drive our cars onto the peir to get a great photo oppertunity. It costs $3 to get in for a 24 hour pass.


2.Lake Manatee State Park: 20007 Hwy 64 East
Bradenton, Florida 34202

This local has everything including a picnic area that we could decide upon closer to the meet. Nice area and close to home for most. Unsure on prices.

3. Wakiwa Springs State Park:1800 Wekiwa Circle
Apopka, Florida 32712

Wakiwa is a spot where a lot of people like to go, mainly due to its variety of beauty and locale. Its right in the heart of the central florida, but seems to be a thousands of miles away from what seems to be a major developed area. $5 per car up to 8 persons. $3 per car with 1 person.

4. Sebastian Inlet State Park: Sebastian Inlet State Park

Waterfront pavilions and picnic areas are great for family outings are perfect. Close to the beach. $5 per car up to 8 persons. $3 per car with 1 person.










If you guys have any other spots to consider please post them. Hell if we can find a spot near Seabring motorpark or Moroso, that would be killer too!

I'm up for anywhere in Florida. I've only got a few weekends that are booked, so most any date ought to work.

I can try to make it to any one of these, the farther south/east the better since I'm also coming from Miami, I guess it depends on who tries to go. If we have lotsa people coming from N Florida we can pick the most central location.

Melbourne Beach is the closest for me. I noticed all the locations are pretty far east or west. Would Orlando work too if we have people from all over going?

BTW The YW FL club would be awesome.. But right now its too little people... it would be a club of like 15 people max that dont live near eachother.. heh.. We need to start a mini chapter in one section of FL, Gather Yaris's around your county that would be interested in YW and work from there. I can try in SFL but i need some cards ^_^. Sorry for the lacking in getting on this topic more, My computer has been acting up alot and I am currently using someone elses. As for Orlando as a local, I am ok with that. We just need to try and get something together location based, anything withat is a public spot more than likely we would get kicked out of, unless we stick with a local like Old Town (Kissimmee) or If we try to setup at a Hooters like last time, that seemed to please many, but not alll. Of course there is always more options out there. I will still keep trying to get something in mind, I am headed to my dealer tomorrow for, I will try and talk with a guy who I have become friends with who I bought my Yaris from, and see if they would let us use their extra side lot on a weekend or something.

The last Civic meet I went to, we met up at I think the David Maus toyota (whatever toyota is in sanford that has a lexus right next to it) and we all got photos and meet/greet stuff done, then rolled out to an Ale House for dinner...

Just a suggestion. Besides, it's harder to get time off work around holidays (I'm sure thats true for everyone) so I think it'll be easier to do early 09.

if it rains in PR as much as it seems to near the Orlando airport/ metro florida area then you'll feel right at home...hehe
but yeah when the sun is out it's probably right up there with climate and nice views....

I think the only thing you won't miss from NY is the sales tax though man, cuz IIRC Orlando is like ranked somewhere up near the top for worst traffic obviously behind Atlanta and NYC....


I'm thinking if the meet is possible from Kamispeed then we could all roll out to one of a few local "car meet friendly" places to eat:

- Sonic drive-in (burger and milkshake joint)

- Five Guys burgers (their parking lot is kinda on the small side though maybe 10-15 spaces)

- Ale House (down the street from the Florida Mall)

- Logans Road house ( next to Five guys )

MY CHOICE >>>>- LOLLICUP/SUBWAY (THESE GUYS ARE COOL and always help to organize car-meets plus they are a drink shop with subway next door)<<<<

hey ive been trying to get a weekly meet going i think maroso witch is the new pbir track would make a good meeting spot for a state wide meet

Alright peeps, someone has to step up. As your esteemed elder leader, i'm investigating an organized cruise to a show and shine meet location in early 2009 that offers plenty of room and activities open to the entire State of Florida Yarii owners and our neighbors to the north. I'm thinking big. For the record, it doesn't involve hanging out at an unfinished subdivision or mall parking lot...Yaris and Toyota enthusiasts deserve better :cool:

This organized event would take place on a Saturday date afternoon/early evening time...Here's the catch: There will be a minimal entry fee (i'm estimating $25 per car) paid in advance (PayPal will be used to pre-register and confirm your spot). Day of event admission will be a higher fee and cash only. More details to come.

We need a paid commitment by a minimum of 15 Yaris owners once details are announced to begin initialization of the proceedings. Of course I would hope for many more than this from Florida and the southeastern US...Let's see your commitment Floridians and southern neighbors...This is your chance to rub elbows with the legendary redyaris :bow: in one of my limited public appearances scheduled for 2009.

I'm also gonna need a couple of volunteer helpers setting up and running this event. Can I count on you fellow Orlandoans?
