bobby.. people spend 3 grand on turbos...lol some people just like to dump money into things..

Well, I just spent $13 for a black t-shirt. That justifies the $3000 that apparently will get me back up to factory stated hp. :frown:

Umm, true. Sadly, that's why far too many American's are up to their eyeballs in debt. I feel VERY fortunate that although I am not rich (far from it) I owe nothing to anybody. If I cannot afford to pay for it by the time the bill comes in, I don't buy it, because it means I cannot afford it. I do not keep balances on credit cards...banks pay ME interest, I don't pay banks interest.

If you buy a worthless gas cap for $40, and have debt on your credit cards, that silly cap winds up costing far more than the already silly cost of $40 (for a GAS CAP!!) with the interest you're paying to the credit card company. Why would anybody do that? Sorry, I don't get it....:iono:

Hey Bobby... it's not a financial forum, it's a forum about people who are passionate about their cars. If I questioned every purchase I made related to my hobbies I wouldn't have any hobbies!! As long as I can pay my bills, sure I still have credit card debt, but I "WILL" have one of those gas caps. So what? It's $40 and I'll be the first to say it's a terrible "financial" decision, but it will be an enjoyable "EMOTIONAL" decision !!

Oh by the way. I made another "terrible" decision last week.
I purchased a Tanabe Medalion exhaust from Cali !!!!

That's not the truth. The truth is you don't get it AND you have an opinion about it -- which you've made very clear.

Meanwhile, those of of us with no debt AND a bit of money to play with will dress up our cars as we please, thankyouverymuch.

This mod will add significant horsepower as it allows the gas tank to run under higher pressures thereby increasing fuel to the engine... Or it just looks nice...

Lets put this "performance" mod right on the wall with the TRD radiator cap and TRD fuse box cover. If you have the money, cool, but people who waste their money on parts like these tend to not have it for long. :iono: But who am I to judge?

I'm just glad this was posted in the cosmetic modifications section.

Gas cap looks like those on the sport car, it looks great !!
If people are going to keep the car for long and pay it off right away, I don't see why not.

Not sure will those fit onto our car though, but thanks for sharing

People are willing to spend $40 or so on a gas cap?? Admittedly, I'm a lil' slow, but.....why?

Some people love there cars and anything JDM they can buy and put on. I can appreciate it, car pride is a good thing to have. Take a look at a lot of the cars around this forum. However, I personally I agree with you, $40 for a gas cap is nuts.

But you must admit it looks a lot better than the plain old boring black stock gas cap. A lot of people on here also enter there cars into comps, having JDM parts and or different parts to anyone else helps you win those comps.

This is a car forum after all. I bought an aftermarket air horn, most people on here appreciate that. Some people are like "Why would you buy a horn when your car has one".

That's the beauty of a forum, it's full of opinions. None are right (except mine ) and none are wrong (except captavise ).

This is a car forum after all. I bought an aftermarket air horn, most people on here appreciate that. Some people are like "Why would you buy a horn when your car has one".

An air horn I can understand...the stock horn is not that loud, and having a loud air horn could be seen as a safety feature, and could--potentially--be lifesaving.

A $40 gas cap which costs a buck to make, and is never even seen, seems kind of silly to me. (Have you also considered having an artist etch an interesting design on your muffler...?) However, it is a free world, and everybody has the right to choose what they want to buy.

Funny, but I can't help thinking about P.T.Barnum though...

It's better. To buy anything that isn't essential when you're paying monthly interest charges on c/c's is pretty dumb, imo. I don't make a lot of money, but I do budget very well. I have not paid a penny of interest on c/c in over 15 years, a record I'm proud of. This is not how "typical American's" spend, and I feel fortunate that I am not a typical American.

thatboyjer
10-28-2008, 10:57 AM
why don't you just have a balance and pay 100 (or however much is calculated) over the minimum so you never touch the interest? If you do it directly and not online there shouldn't be any finance charges...

that or spend as much as you can on a cc and pay it off in one paycheck? especially if your limit is only 1000 you can pretty much pay that off in a couple of days. I don't see the big deal especially since it'll build your credit in the long run.

I have 4 credit cards and a credit rating well over 750. I zero the balance on each of them every paycheck and i was able to buy my own yaris and sign for it myself with 6% interest.

So again, i don't see how having a CC will hurt you. The "typical" american doesn't know how to manage their credit, which is probably just as bad as having, NO credit.

PS: that post definitely says it won't fit our cars. Whether or not it is correct, who knows? Maybe the one pictured earlier in this thread is a different size?

hehe I only use 0% interest cards....and pay off monthly....or carry a balance for a certain amount of time say when an emergency comes up that requires more than what is in the bank account (i.e.) house floods or tranny goes out....

Just take the door off and do some body work to fix the ugly parts. Would look amazing. I know before there was talk of this particular one not fitting 08's. Have we figured out if there is one out there that will fit 08's?? Or is it a lost cause?

haha. I don't watch much TV either, but reading about a man complaining about American spending habits is probably worse than listening to Sarah Palin respond to...ANY question asked of her (ssssss ouch. the start and end of any political remarks)(she's still a bit of a milf). It's a futile effort. Being that I live in NJ, a fancy gas cap is a dumb thing to spend money on. People will spend money on things others will find useless, but who are we to judge?
