I had the dealer put the optional arm rest in and I give it two thunbs up. It definately helps in the overall comfort or driving and it does not take away from the cup holder in the back as I origonally thought. It looks fairly easy to install (although I had the dealer do it for free) and it seems to be stable enough for an arm rest. It seems that if you were to lean on it too hard though that it might break (if you put your whole weight into it). But for what it is I think it is a worthwhile buy.

I have it too, hehe......
Mine is a tad higher than the one on the door. That's the only not-so-good thing.

There's a accessory kit for Yaris on ebay that included armrest, mud guard, and a cargo net for 139.95 + 12.95 shipping. That was a bargain, go check it out.

trdsparks has it for $70USD (+shipping)
but that seems expensive still... anyone else thought of building one?
Take a PVC pipe and add to it, i'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard and might come out better than the oem one... thoughts?

I use it very often. No squeaking. Don't worry, I am sure your car is still under warranty:smile:.

Mine doesn't squeak, but it isn't that sturdy. I'm debating on weather I should secure it better......screws in an inconspicuous spot maby.

BPT is over priced.

I can check my supplier if i can get it. right now my prices are sweet for most TRD parts.

Funny, the arm rest in the first Yaris I checked out seemed like a laughably flimsy POS.

Mine squeaks, I think it's coming from the hinge at the top since the bottom is nice and solid & secure.
I might try lubing it somehow if I can do it without making a mess.

A little WD40 or White Lithium Greese on the head of a Q-Tip (ear bud, etc.).

That should get to the hinge without spraying something and making a mess. :drinking:

I've been thinking about this... Do you have any pics of the end result? I'de love to see how the rest fits with the center console and rear cup holder..

i got mine dealer installed and i like it. only thing is i dont think it is adjustable, and it sits just about an inch too far back and i cannot rest my elbow on it while driving. still a good buy, passengers love it and everytime my hand comes off the wheel i use it.

Glad to hear for the most part that everyone likes the arm rest...I just ordered my hatchback with one, so I guess I'll see how it works out.

I don't know why they made it an inch higher than the armrest on the door.

Let me guess. Well, may be to give more space for the operation of the hand brake:wink:.

I have a brand new, uninstalled factory Toyota Liftback armrest for sale.

Please PM or Email me if interested.
