I am no expert on thread patterns, but I want to get a new shift knob for my HB automatic shifter and I was wondering if anyone knows the thread pattern or can tell me how to find out? I did a search on the forum and couldn't find it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info... :thumbup: Which one are you getting, I am also thinking of changing the pedals and shift knob for the heck of it. :smile:

EDIT just purchased the pedals online from Sparks.. for 40 bucks, why not. :drinking:

which one did you get , Chris07LB? the round, small one or the larger, "pointed" TRD shift knob??? personally, i'm more comfortable with the larger, pointed one since it gives me a better "sense" of the "HH" layout of the gearbox..sometimes I lose reference with a small, round shift knob..
just my .02

You guys rock, btw :headbang:

Neither... I have a slush box Yaris! :rolleyes:
So far, I just ordered the auto pedal set from Sparks. Im undecided on which shifter knob though.

Next week should be a good mod week, just ordered a few more goodies. :biggrin:

why not get the semi transparent universal shift knob with the white LED in it from Walmart? Now that would be awesome:bellyroll: :bellyroll: :bellyroll:

I haven't seen a shift knob for the Yaris yet that I truly care for...:confused:

So, how do you read the thread size? Would a M10x1.25 knob fit on a yaris?

Attached below is a drawing I made when I was trying to adapt my Robin Casady Rosewood shift knob, with Doug Whalen Shift machine, from my MINI Cooper S to my new Yaris.

The manual shifter shaft for the 2008 Yaris is M12 1.25 for sure.

And here is how it all came out:

Now to replace the shift boot with a nice black leather boot.

The auto is an 8m x 1.25 shaft (hard to find). It is a LOT smaller than the manual one. We have two Yaris one auto and one manual and they are defintely not the same.

I did the TRD metal pedals...they great, but use LOTS of soapy water to lubricate them..they are really hard to get on.

Just to confirm for everyone, the thread size for the manual shifter on the Yaris is M12x1.25 (standard manual Toyota size), but for the automatic shifter the thread size is M8x1.25.

We can provide shift knobs with the right insert for both models, you can check our selection on www.twmshiftknobs.com.

Just to confirm for everyone ... for the automatic shifter the thread size is M8x1.25.

I have an automatic so I'm unsure of what the thread size is on it...:confused:

Now I'm confused. It was mentioned at least twice, once directly before your post. Did you read the thread at all?:iono:

As for the shifter, the description says "Fits most gear shifters". The last picture shows two bushings and an allen wrench, so there's a pretty good chance that one of them will fit. If not, it's a $13 item from Wallyworld: returns aren't an issue.

So how does the M12x1.25 translate into the adapter sizes that list millimeters? As in 7,9,or 11 mm?

M12 1.25 is in millimeters.

M12 = 12mm
M8 = 8mm

And so on.

1.25 is the thread pitch (how far apart the individual threads are aka "coarse or fine")
