okay i got my pulleys just installed today, the rest of the water pump and altenator pulley, now after it was done the guy said that my fuse blew out for the altenator located near the battery terminal, he said that when he put it on, turned on the car the fuse blew and said "wow it spins that much faster?". he is finding out how much the part is from toyota and telling me to go buy it, he sodered it for now but he doesn't now how long it would run like that.
i never heard of this happen from any of you guys when you put your pulleys on, you guys think this guy is busting my balls?
possibly a reply from NST with some suggestions, etc would help please, thanks

it's an underdrive pulley kit, right? That's supposed to make your alternator spin slower than before, so it sounds really odd..

i think the guy is screwing with you IMHO.... I also do not know what he would have soldered... the circuit inside the fuse or is it a relay? ............doubtttt it

turned on the car the fuse blew and said "wow it spins that much faster?"
None of the pulleys make anything spin faster. I don't think you could tell just by looking even if they did.
And, he could easily check the voltage the alternator is producing. Did he measure that before making his comments?
Clearly the guy doesn't know what "underdrive" means.
Yikes.

:rolleyes:Sounds to me, like he had a problem getting the old alt pullie off ,
and stuck a screw driver into it :eek:to stop it turnning, damaging the coil.
Thats just my opinion:iono: for what its worth.
if you replace the fuse and it blows again then thats your problem.
send him the bill.

yea this guy is so dumb lol when i left he said if u have any good parts you wanna install i will be more than happy to do it for you, and funny part is i just told him a new crank pulley was on there already i didn't mention it was underdrive hes just trying to pull money out of my a$$ he said 60$ to install then they changed it to 145$ because 2 of my bolts were stripped i ordered one bolt and they replaced the other one, so yea they are BS and it only took about 1 hour to do, so where did the labor cost come out of that when they charge like 75$ for labor only i stil have to pay him off tomorrow when i get my check but when he asks me about the fuse ima look at him and say "do you think im fukin stupid" lol *excuse my language*

i hooked up an audio system in the yaris and had to hook up the power line to the "red terminal" and i honestly never noticed a fuse there... maybe just me, or maybe hes just an idiot... and how are your bolts stripped on a new car.... hes probably the as that didnt use the correct tool and stripped them himself...
tell him you would like it reduced to an hour and only pay the original amount specified because the other problems were his own fault and tell him to fix the "fuse" problem too..
PLEASE DON'T LET THIS SHADY MECHANIC SCREW YOU!!!

possibly a reply from NST with some suggestions, etc would help please, thanks :biggrin:I have these fuses on my Xterra but I don't recall having them on my Yaris. What year is your Yaris? The fuses on the Xterra at least one of them is for the power coming from the alternator. The others go to your main power box for the car. I am positive this guy didn't disconnect the battery before the install. You should be able to get the fuse which is more than likely a 60 to 100 amp fuse from AutoZone or any auto parts store and replace it your self. Just look at it closely and see what size it is. He probably just popped the clear cap on the top of the fuse and soldered it. I wouldn't drive it for to long like that because you never know if or how much damage the guy could have caused! Good luck

Yeah I am going to say to him all that crap and prove him wrong and also request a refund also for his company to pay for any damage and repairs that need to be done to my car because of him, and toyota will fix it not him.
