I have a 08 CND Yaris Sedan with the convenience package, and I am wanting to install the Factory installed cruse control unit, but not wanting to Rostra version...

I have been doing a lot of research and found the following and I think the Yaris with the convenience package is all prewired for the Factory installed Cruse Control unit, and it is all but a matter of getting the control module and replacement rear cover for the steering wheel.

But there a few things to confirm:

Reference the online 2007 Yaris Factory Service Manual that is a sticky. And look at the CC section. I also reviewed the wiring diagram, and compared it to the car and it looks like all Cruse control wiring is in place, even the wiring going to the ECU, and the steering wheel connector is the 3 wire as required.

1/ The 2007 Factory Manual shows all that is needed is the Cruse Control for ATM…

2/ I reviewed Toyota EPC, again it is for the 2007 Yaris, and it shows for 2007 CND Sedan, there is a reference for the Cruse Control Module that is in the steering wheel. Anyone have access to the 2008 and 2009 EPC? As thecruse control parts on the 07 catalog, there is a reference link and it does not work..

http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_2007_TOYOTA_YARIS_NCP93L-BEPRKK_4504.html

3/ Based on the 2007 EPC, it looks like the ECU is the same as long as it is the Yaris Sedan with the convenience package or higher.

4/ I went the dealer ship and saw the 2009 Yaris, and again, the Sedan with enhanced convenience and appearance package, it comes with the Factory Cruse control..

Anyone on our forum that works for a Toyota dealership and has access to 2008/2009 Toyota EPC and hopfully has Canadian Spec Yaris also to confirm part#s and ECU??

What do you guys think?.. Am I chasing a ghost?

I don't have access to the EPC, but attached are the EWD's for factory cruise for 08 and 09. The pinouts associated with cruise are identical for both. (Save them locally to view, as they are huge images to be readable)

Thanks for the two EWD, but the files are very hard to read if I zoom into them..

Where can I get a copy that is easier to read?

Take a look at your local Toyota and see if they have 2009 models in stock, and find a S/D with the enhanced convenience and appearance package, and you will find the factory installed CC.... Hope this helps...

For this project, I am wanting to find out based on now that the 09 CND version does have CC as a factory install, the part# for the steering wheel control unit.

Also, if there is anyone who works for a Toyota dealership and has access to ECP, and not sure if their ECP will include CND spec cars, and from the link I have above of the steering wheel, what does the link to referenced PNC 84632 tell us?...

Also, for the years of 07, 08..The steering wheel CC switch assembly, is it the same one use in Corolla, Camery???

But now, the best thing for us is to find out the parts listing for 09 and cofirm the part# for the CC control unit..

thanks

My 2005 Tacoma had the same CC assembly as my 2008 Yaris(with power package). My parents 2001 Tacoma has the same CC assembly as my 2007 Yaris(without power package). Therefore I believe that all Toyota's, to at least 2001, have the same CC assembly.

Here are the parts shown in the EPC for 2009:

84632-34011 - Switch, Cruise Control Main
84633-42030 - Wire, Cruise Control
88280-14030 - Switch Assy, Clutch (M/T only)
90159-51099 - Screw, W/Washer - quantity 2
45184-52130-B0 - Cover, Steering Wheel Boss, Lower (Cruise Control-With)

(The big question is if this is truly all that is required. If you look at the EWD, it really looks like everything is built in except the column switch and the clutch switch).

It is a bit difficult to verify without a VIN number with the specific config, but it looks like:

2009 ECU USA SED&LB Auto - 89661-52J50
2008 ECU USA SED Auto - 89661-52G41 (11/07 - 08/08)
89661-52G51 (11/07 - 08/08)
89661-52J40 (08/08+)
89661-52J50 (08/08+)

There is no indication of cruise in relation to ECU part #.

I just looked up the 09 Corolla and it has a different part number for the switch and the wire for NAP, but same parts as Yaris for JPP:

For NAP Corollas:
Switch, Cruise Control Main: Corolla 84632-08021 vs Yaris 84632-34011
Wire, Cruise Control: Corolla 84633-0E020 vs Yaris 84633-42030

As for the tool, it is just a die punch - Two drill bits would accomplish the same task.

Can you elaborate on the issue that was found back then?..

does the 07 yaris rs have a light on the dash for the cruise? I have the aftermarket dealer installed cruise on the left hand side with a green light on the stick. If I can change to the better looking one I will as I would assume all the parts are there, so a stick change should work. Shed some light into this issue, will it work?

Yes, the crusie light is built into the combination meter. I really don't understand why the dealer installed ones are aftermarket ones. It kind of makes me think that there is something more to this than we think...

It does seem that way, but for all of the info on the OEM CC unit and the info all being OEM like the Service Manual, EPC, and confirmed wiring is there... and the confirmed 08 model with the enhanced power package comes with the OEM CC, it makes no sense to why the aftermarket unit was pushed as the dealer install option..

I have been searching the local wreckers to find a compatible CC switch which from all of the online Toyota OEM parts suppliers claims that 07+ Camry and many other models of cars use the same CC switch unit...

I will then purchase the wire harness once I have the switch and give it a shot (cross my fingers!).. Unless someone can beat me too it!

As I posted before, my 08 with power package has the same CC that was in my 05 Tacoma so more than likely all Toyota's CC for vehicles with the power package is the same(at least going back to 2005). My 07 does not have the power package but has the Rostra CC. This CC was not installed by the dealer. It was either installed by the distributor(the port) or was installed in Japan. The same exact Rostra CC that is on my 07 Yaris is the same one that is on my parents 2001 Tacoma. So Toyota has been using the same setup for at least 7 years.

I will take a look at my ECU number tomorrow and post them on here.

You are only going to find the "cruise" symbol on the Yaris's with the power package. On the non-power packagae Yaris, the cruise indicator is on the steering wheel control.

If you are wanting to get the OEM cruise from the power package added you are also going to have to buy a new gauge cluster that has the tach on it.

Does your Canadian Yaris come with a tachometer?
Looking at the 2007 Factory Service Manual, it shows the cruise light
in a different spot on the I/P if you don't have the tachometer.
Take a look at page 15 of the Cruise Control pdf:

http://www.etimago.com/yaris/repairmanual/Cruise%20Control.pdf

That being said, I have a 2009 LB with Power Pkg and CC, but no tach.
My indicator is in the upper right, like the pdf shows for the tach model. :iono:
Maybe the 2009 service manual would show something different.

DAM!... I thought I had all the planets aligned up!... (Wiring, ECU, Part#s for the OEM CC parts)..... I would have thought (assumed!), that Toyota would have used the same dash for both cars that have the OEM CC installed or not (with the tach of course)… DAM!...

Anyone outside of N.A that has a 08 Sedan with the tach, but no OEM CC installed, can you take a picture of your dash too see if you have the CC indicator in your dash?... It is preferred if you have a metric dash (KM)

DAM, DOUBLE DAM!!!

P.S.. Can someone with a 08 US Sedan (w/tach) take the same picture… I would like to see how well does the CC indicator shows up.

fuel indicator not near the turn signal. This is different that where it is shown on the
EWD for the 2007.

If you can take the photos that would be great...

Scott did post a 2009 EWD, and it does have a slightly different setup for the CC, it is the active light "Cruise" and the "SET" light when it being used

P.S.. Anyone with a 08 that has the OEM CC, can you post a photo of your dash also?

thanks guys..

 For reference, I am definitely a noob, and have browsed through some of these threads.
Anyways... That all being said, I have an 08 Yaris, without any options except automatic tranny. Just tried installing the OEM cc on the wheel. The install worked great, and was actually quite easy, except that: the Cruise don't work. All I did was pop out the airbag, pop a hole in the plastic behind the steering wheel, stick in the OEM Toyota CC, and put it all back together. That all worked well, but the cruise doesn't kick in. Am wondering if there's something in the ECU I have to do to make it recognize the cc? I did check, and I do not have the cruise light on the dash, because as I mentioned, mine is the very bare bines one.

Thoughts?

FYI, I paid $110, for the OEM toyota cruise stalk and the wirnign harness from Metro Toyota ( cleveland, I think) If anyone is looking for the same, would be happy to post the link to their site. They were very good, and helped me out with the couple questions I had.

Anyways, any advice anyone can spot would be appreciated. Thanks.

2008 Yaris don't have the wiring from the ECM to the steering wheel, so you have to run a wire from pin 40 of the ECM connector A21 to the connector on the steering column where the spiral cable comes out. Take a look at the following post. Since you bought an OEM stalk, you can ignore the part about the switches are resistors.

2010 Yaris, Manual Trans base model. I was able to retrofit an OEM cruise. Took about an hour, but I do this for a living. Thought someone here might want to know.

BTW, pin 40 on th ECU had a connector in it even though the steering wheel connector didn't. Went ahead and hard wired like I would have otherwise.
