Hi Guys,

I've been meaning to post some pictures of my Silver 4DR LB puppy (after a few modifications). Today, after being washed/clayed/waxed, I noticed that rinsing the car left a considerable amount of water in the JDM-style LED tail-lights I had just installed a week ago. I purchased these quite a while back, when I didn't know where to get the orginal, so obviously bought these non-OEM ones from ebay (HK)...Needless to say, I loved them to pieces until about today when I noticed the water...soon it'll be sunny, the lights will fog up inside :cry:

I guess time to reinstall the original USDM lights...at least they won't let the water in.

No point in this post, just sharing my misfortune...of all my additions, I was most proud of the LED taillights. I will still post pics soon (just super busy with university)

Split them apart, let them dry, then silicone-them back up!

I was just about to post the same thing. It's the best thing to do if you plan on scrapping them anyways.

I have the same problem with my right-side tail light. Does anyone know what the best way to split these apart and seal them? I'm kind of weary about putting these in an oven...

I've heard bad things about silicone too (not very resilient in varying weather). Is there a better material for this kind of thing?

Goop but be very careful it can cause a mess. If you use it.....it is PERMANENT!

ooh goop -- I'm scared of that stuff, but it's very good.

I have re-sealed every aftermarket lighting part I've ever bought, before I installed it. I've never had any fogging or leaking. Don't give up guys!

any local autobody materials supplier can sell you right off the shelf sealer made just for sealing headlights and taillights.....I have used it before and it is just like the OEM sealer and works great.

I had to have my stock tail changed 3 times since april 2007...always get water in it and then it froze :frown:

Go to your local petstore and buy silicon sealant for aquarium repair. If its good enough to seal a 100 gallon fish tank id say its good enough for your head or tail lights. Make sure you wear a mask though that stuff sure smells nasty. Dries clear and gets hard pretty quick too. Supose to be fully dry after 24 hours.
