Anyone tried to "open" one with ur Yaris?? Does it work and is it a good idea? I would love to do that somehow...

I plan on putting one in. There is a structural cross brace (at least on 5 door models) right accross the roof between the doors which may need to be moved, maybe not... cant imagine it would help flex by taking it out.

I don't think a moon roof would hurt the structural integrity of the Yaris. afterall, Aveo's have them, and they are Chevy.... :-)

i asked around in many auto shops they said they can't do it on my yaris.. I would love to open one.. and i heard that even so, only a "non-movable" sunroof can be constructed... any idea?

i wonder if they could put in a tilt sunroof.
they're usually cheaper
and then u dont have to worry about the roof line.

I have a moonroof installed on my Yaris Sedan and it looks great! No problems. Haven't been able to take pics yet because of all the snow and ice here in Iowa lately but I will post some eventually.

I love that moonroof!! Was it hard to install ? How did you cut out the roof? Also is it powr-operated or a manual opening ? Also will Toyota dealerships do this ?

Yes it was kind of hard. I rented power shears to cut the hole - you have to cut to about 1/16" tolerence. It's powered. About half the job was relocating the dome light.

Dealerships have shops they work with or you can go direct to one yourself. Get referrals.

I've asked about it and the shops here told me that the dome light have to be relocated and that will cost to much

was there a structural cross brace that needed to be customized or something, or was is just the dome light???

Moving the dome light was very time consuming. I had to fabricate a custom mount.

There is a cross brace - but it isn't structural - its only there to keep the sheet metal in the roof from fluttering at speed. The sunroof frame serves the same purpose.

Sunroof: $749 installed

Moonroof: $1301 installed

LOL I didn't even look at the date .... I was actually searching online for yaris moonroof stuff and the thread popped up. I never even thought to look.

Well, looks like I just like to dig death up and walk it around a little.

Sorry about that everyone haha

That is pretty funny.

So, anyone install a ragtop on their Yaris yet? Like a VW style, sliding roof-rag?
