NEW YARIS OWNER! I have a question..

Hi I just bought a brand new 2009 yaris sedan. Just wondering, its a little difficult to tell how much gas is left in the tank when there is one little indicator left on the display..How long does that one little tick last before I run out of fuel? Assuming regular 10-15 km's a day.. Do I need to fuel up the second I only have one little tick left showing on the meter? Or do I still have a tiny bit of fuel left after it goes out to get to the gas station? I have one tick left and its a week til christmas..trying not to spend any extra money right now..

You know, the best way to get that question answered is to post it in the forum itself, in the fuel economy section
rather than blogs (not sure anyone checks them)

This is a question that comes up pretty often actually. The last bar is pretty tricky and you're better off filling up the minute you see it blinking. Some people say you have 30 some miles left when it starts blinking but I've never verified that myself, always fill up as soon as the second bar is gone or blinking.

I have found out the hard way, and driving properly with the a/c off most of the time I got about 60 miles, but my car is lightened considerably. See on my profile at yarishouston.com

I actually figured this one out on my own. I also have a 2009 yaris sedan. Of course all this is approximate gas levels, it will never be exact.
This is all when each bar disappears
Bar --- Gallons used --- Gallons left
1st bar -------- 2 ----------- 9.1
2nd bar -------- 1.25 -------- 7.85
3rd bar -------- 1.25 -------- 6.6
4th bar -------- 1.25 -------- 5.35
5th bar -------- 1.25 -------- 4.1
6th bar -------- 1.25 -------- 2.85
7th bar -------- 1.25 -------- 1.6
(slow flash ends) ---- .5 -------- 1.1
(fast flash ends) ---- 1.1 -------- 0
once the flashing starts you have 1.6 gallons left
