2007 Yaris Brake Light and ABS light on
Posted 02-04-2010 at 04:48 PM by Jake
Hi everyone.
I own a 2007 Yaris Sedan.
My brake light and ABS light are permanently on.
My brakes have been looked at, they are fine.
After paying the dealer over $100 to "diagnose" the problem, they deemed it to be my Right Rear Speed Sensor.
They say it is "seized", "faulty", "inoperable"
and recommend me replacing it along with the hub and Bearing.
This is at a cost of $925.00.
Let me get this right. My brakes are fine, yet I need to dish out almost a thousand dollars because the speed sensor is telling me the brakes are "not" right?
Apparently there are many Yaris owners out there that have had to replace this, and not only once. The problem comes back in later years to be paid for over and over again.
This should be a recall. Toyota needs to make sure the Yaris is equipped to withstand snowy conditions without costing it's customers a fortune. I'm still making payments and shouldn't be having this type of problem in a fairly new car.
Right now I am just leaving the lights on, so ticked off!!
opinions anyone? How do you organize in order to find out how many people are going through this and get our voices heard for a recall?
thanks,
J

Also, the code used for the speed sensor is
CODE C0210 Right Rear Speed Sensor
Part to replace it with is
42450-52060, 89516-52090
suggested $925.40 parts and labor
just so we can compare notes....Posted 02-04-2010 at 04:55 PM by Jake

I have the exact same problem with left rear speed sensor, had the same problem with the right side last year, surprisingly last year it was around 500 CDN , this year for some reason price is more than 900 CDN.
I refused to pay the money last year, so somehow dealership and Toyota paid for it!!!! However this year dealership wants the full payment right away!!!!! Had tried two dealerships, they want the same money..they seem to be used to hearing the same problem but insisting that there is no recall on it..
THIS TIME they really want to overcharge us!
I was thinking to call Toyota , but since they are having lots of complaints due to their recent faulty cars, I am not sure if they will be helpful…
Anyways it seems I am not the only one after all…
I am already used to the ABD light being on and I AM NOT PAYING TONES OF MONEY to fix it..
I even like the car without ABS..Posted 02-20-2010 at 10:28 PM by Yarismine

Exactly same problem here!! unfortunately my warranty is outdated thus i have to pay it from my pocket!
Just because of a tiny problem with the sensors, have to replace the whole thing with the bearings!! miss the good old days of mechanics without the electronic circuits. These things are so sensitive and brake so easily!!
And since its a rented car that im planning to return, i absolutely have to repair it, else i would have driven without ABS...Posted 01-07-2011 at 03:47 PM by Balbaz
