I hear you on the car, I get it. At a certain point an upgrade is in order. Not sure if you wrench your own cars much or not but if you do you can buy an "as is" Matrix and spend very little to get the safety on it. That's how I found my wife's '05 Vibe, paid $2300 for it North of Kitchener and spent about $700 all in to get is licensed and safetied with a bunch of new suspension and steering components.

Good luck with the car search, hopefully you can sell your Yaris for a good amount. I'm blown away at how cheap Yaris' can be bought used now. As much as Toyota's keep their value, the fact that gas isn't crazy expensive right now has their value dropping faster than normal

East end, near where king and nash is. Had this yaris for 3 years, bought it with 122k for $6000. Used it now at 191k. I listed it on autotrader. The yaris is not a bad car, but the older models had less standard features. Last time, I was in a hurry to get a car, and bought this without knowing it didnt have ac, power windows, power locks etc. Took good care of it, but want to upgrade. I listed it for $4700. My brother recently got a 2015 yaris le for less than $10k with 65k on it. Newer ones are the same, except the design is completely different.

I really want to get rid of the one I have now, and buy a newer toyota matrix with a 1.8l or newer yaris

no problem, the Yaris is doing really well, likes to drive fast now. Where abouts in Hamilton do you live? I see a ton of Yaris' but I doubt any of them are on the forums
