I tried sticking pins into both sides to test it...

I tried sticking pins into both sides to test it and got not continuity although I don't know if it's because the pins aren't making contact or if there is actually no continuity....

It was the worst feeling ever. I struggled for so long with some extended 90 degree pliers as well as regular extended pliers.

I thought I'd clear up what I did to remove it in case this happens...

Thats not where the knocking came from, though, it was the lugs.

But I'm going to probably just have to do a whole new axle assembly, thats usually the easiest / cheapest...
