New to Yaris World

Okay, so i'm new to all of this. My BF is always on his newtiburon.com blogs and well he's been trying to talk me into doing stuff with my car! I always say no no no, because I don't want to put money into, so on and so forth...but lately...i've found myself needing a hobby.

Can anyone recommend anything for someone just starting out?

First thing i'm thinking is a cold air intake, but I was gonna look into the TRD product since I'm afraid it would void my warranty if I got anything else.

Then I was thinking powdercoating (my bf does powdercoating on the side if anyone is interested, I would def. have him do my car and post pics before anyone else gets it done)
That actually, might be the first thing i do. who knows.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Lor

Welcome Lor! There is a ton of information on this site. My first suggestion would be to become familiar with the search function of the site. There is a ton of information here on everything from the TRD intake to supercharger and turbo kits, wheels, stereo systems and beyond. Looking at previous threads will increase your understanding and likely leave you with lots of questions for us, which we will be happy to answer.

Congrats on your purchase and enjoy the new car!

i've had the car since april 2007 :) lol, done absolutely nothing with it...i don't think a remote starter really counts for much, hehe.

But i'm getting a good lump of money from taxes this year and was like eh what hell, you know?

If it will give me something to do why not!

I appreciate you replying and giving me some tips!

Welcome! If you want listen to the radio or talk to your friends when you drive, don't change the intake or exhaust. Rims and tires make a good start.

Welcome Loressa!

I know the first things I did (and was very happy with) were rims/tires and lowering springs (I went with Tanabe DF210's, but you really can't go wrong.)

Now I've done all sorts of things, check out my Garage if you want.

Also, look at other member's garages and it may give you ideas on what you want to do!

Good luck!

My first mod suggestion would probably have to be lowering. It does wonders on the look of the car. It'll go from Grave Digger monster truck status to either "normal" () or sporty looking.

Throwing a whole bunch of mod money at a small econobox doesnt seem logical to me but thats how i think at 60 so my first purchase after buying the car was a tent http://www.vtarmynavy.com/eureka-copper-canyon-10.htm which came in handy on my trip across Canada last summer, much more fun than a shiney new add on piece. Some pics of your car are always appreciated and welcome to the forum ---Loressa

Thumbs up

I'm for Rims, Tint....cosmetics. I got my car for inexpensive transport but I luv how it looks. This 106 hp engine doesn't get much with all the performance goodies. Paint would be cool. I'd luv to get a custom color/paint job if I had the $$$$. That's my two centavos.

Oh, and this is a great forum for friends and info. Welcome and enjoy.

Yaris must haves:
TRD rear swaybar
For standards, a short shift linkage.

Past those it's up to you whether engine performance, handling or cosmetics are your initial direction.

Honestly, my first mod was
Painted hubcaps.... cheap and the quickest to start
Then I went with changing the led lights on the car... all the interior lights to led...

Both of these are a cheap option and provide you the difference....
Later on (like me) you can change the head lights and the tail lights, exhaust, springs, sway bar etc....

I will have to second what Kaotic said for this one.

-Lowering
-Wheels + Tires

Shop around. You can get a set really cheap.
If you check out my photo thread, you will see my wheels. I only paid mine $450 canadian and everybody thinks the wheels are $1000 $1500 lol
