Dropping Front Subframe - Supporting Engine From Above Needed?
Hi All
Need to replace the steering rack bushes in my 2008 5 door hatch. Managed to source a set of bushings but it looks like I'll need to remove the rack to be able to get the bushings out. There are a few videos on YouTube showing people dropping the front subframe / cross member without any support from above. Is there any need to support the engine from above? It doesn't look like the engine or transmission mount attaches to the subframe - just the torque mount. Any tips appreciate! Thanks |

I don't think you need to do much except support the engine with a stand or jack to keep it from swing around. The cradle looks pretty simple and doesn't encompass the whole powertrain.
