Carb Legal performance mod for Yaris in Cali?
Hi,
I bought a 32k miles, 2008 Yaris last month and it has been a great economy car! Over the weekend I drove 272 miles, almost 7k' elevation gain, stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic for 1hr 40 mins with the a/c on, doing 75-80 mph, 4k rpm max, 89mph max and was still able to get 38.8 MPG after the trip with an estimate of 455 lbs weight in the car! That is pretty impressive! However, The car did crawl up on some sections to the point that the speed was dropped to 50mph. I tried to downshift to 3rd but the speed didn't really change much so instead, I just kept it on 4th where the RPM was at 4k. Fast Forward... I need a little bit of that speed! I don't need to make this car a 14 sec car. I just need that extra help when I need to pass a big rig & something that will keep my gas mileage the same (or better) and everything will be reliable and legal. I read here, that H,I,E, 1ZZ TB, Pulley/s has good hp gains and it also has good MPG results but will it pass the visual/smog inspection in Ca? Are all these smog legal? What about that 1ZZ throttle body from a corolla? Will that pass smog checks? Thank you. |
