A bit angry with alarm install
Okay so today I got my alarm installed but before I tell you about my problem I will talk to you about the cars in Puerto Rico
the base yaris comes with a factory alarm (activates when all doors are closed with the key,no remotes or anything) the tech package has alarm, power everything etc but I have the base model with power nada Sounds secure right? 2 alarms YEAH! Nope the car(stock alarm) thinks someone is breaking and goes off in every time I open it with the remote(aftermarket alarm) is there anyway to disable the stupid useless stock yaris alarm? thanks!

What is the stock alarm that comes on the PR spec Yaris? Is it the TVIP RS3200, with which there is a module to the right behind the lower passenger side glove box?

Hey scott I called the alarm guy and apparently the problem was that I was unlocking the rear hatch with the aftermarket alarm still armed.
but still is there anyway to at least disable the stock alarm? a fuse, wire or something?

CTScott is very smart and may know of a better way but here is what I would do assuming it is the same as our U.S. Yari. Take the status output wire from the aftermarket alarm and hook it to the keysense wire in the car. That wire is yellow and has a - trigger. It can be found at the ignition switch or at pin 7 in the 14 pin plug in the fuse box under the dash. That will allow the aftermarket alarm to disarm the factory alarm.

I think I figured it out, what I did was to just lock and unlock the doors with the remote(aftermarket) and the oem alarm didn't come on, looks like if you use the keys on the doors you trigger it. the light on the dash has been off all day and I had around 10 unlock cycles getting last minute junk for new years.
so far so good :)

I looked at the wiring diagram for the unit he bought...it's pretty basic, and designed as a basic immobilizer for a car with no security system previously installed. It does not have wires for tying in to a factory alarm.

oh. But I assume it does have lock and unlock? If so he could use factory alarm arm and disarm wires instead of lock and unlock. That would lock and unlock the doors and arm and disarm the factory alarm both.

yeah, it has lock/unlock, but that's the problem he has in the other thread. They used arm/disarm instead of lock unlock.
