2005 Ignition sticking

I bought my 2005 Yaris new. From the first month or so, every now and then, when I turned the ignition on, it would stick and just keep turning like it was trying to start. It finally would start but it keeps doing it. Again, it only does it every now and then.

The Yaris has a feature that it will continue to crank for up to 10 seconds automatically, even if you let go of the key from spring-loaded START back to IGNITION. In essence, you can just "tap" the ignition, and the Yaris will determine how long to apply the starter for the engine to start.

Seeing as you've owned the Yaris for 5 years... eh? Maybe the problem is something else..

there was another thread on this issue; every time the member would depress the clutch fully it would try to crank again

i dont recall if that issue was ever resolved but it was said to remove the relay and bang it on something hard (or replace it) as something inside is sticking

on the other hand i am assuming u mean the starter motor continues to crank the engine even after the engine starts, like said above, the yaris has an "auto" start feature, all u have to do is move from the "on" position to "start" position with the key for a second and the starter will continue to crank untill the engine catches.

and like was said by CTScott (if anyone knows how to fix an electrical issue, it would be him)

the other member's would constantly crank, but if urs are only holding for a little longer then i would assume the sticking would continue

At least everyone in this forum is alert. I feel like an idiot. I have a 2005 Tacoma and have been posting stuff about it. I meant to say the Yaris was a 2007. Sorry again!

Thanks

Thanks for the response. I meant to say it is a 2007. It started doing it not long after I bought the car new. Every time I took it to the dealer it wouldn't do it.
