way to go toyota! yet another slew of toyota/scion/lexus in the ranks.

kudos to the domestics as well. a few segment leaders from them. glad to see more quality from them lately.

Nice. Now I get to annoy everyone I see and tell them that I chose the most reliable car of the year. :) It's bad enough I rant and rave about my amazing gas mileage, enjoyable driving experience, roominess and flexibility. Plus everyone says the car is so cute.

i love it. when the rating system doesnt favor the yaris (as one survey that showed the yaris to be the least reliable of all toyota vehicles) everyone blasts the methodology of what/how the tests measures "problems". when the JD power Initial survey (which is an absolutely meaningless predictor of long term reliability) is good, everyone slobbers all over themselves with excitement.

the gap between the top and bottom in these JD initial quality surveys is getting smaller and smaller every year, and the problems per 100 vehicles, industry wide, is getting smaller and smaller every year. heck, the industry averahe is 108 problems per 100 vehicles and toyota is at 101 problems per 100 vehicles. the gap there used to be much greater. Ford, for example keeps getting closer and closer. i can see one day where a ford or hyundai takes the spot over a yaris and everyone says "those surveys are bogus!"

Let's make it clear though that this doesn't mean that the '09's are the most reliable/trouble free Yaris's. The '07's and '08's are just as good.
