What's with all the "* spec"
What is meant by..e spec, a spec, and r spec.
Do they refer to performance? Some level of blueprinting to specifications? I see those terms applied to mod parts within people's YarisGarages. I've tried Googling this and searched the forums but have not found a definition.

The spec has to do with categories of racing where all cars conform to the same specifications. The different mods conform to different levels of spec racing.

It's all hype and BS related to selling more products. Very similar to my old IROC Z-28 which was hype added to the Z-28.

both true. "Spec" does have a meaning in terms of racing specifications for groups of cars, like "Miata spec", for example.
it's also used to sell stuff, as Bob says.
