That is awesome. I could drive this thing for another couple years, sell it and put a down payment on a Lexus. LOL.

The auto market can change week to week. Suppose gas prices doubled overnight because of some worldwide or national crisis and those prices sustained for more than at least a few days. How much do you think Prius, Yaris, Fit, Civic, Corolla, ect. prices would change? They would shoot up because demand would explode. On the flipside, SUV and truck values would plummet (much like this summer). Dealers often use their own judgement for what a car is really worth right now. That said, the Yaris shouldn't be commanding these prices because gas has plummeted. This past summer, they could. |

Just because they asking 10K doesnt mean they get it. I can buy a 2006 Mitsu Endeavor for 15K with 30K, as well as 2006 SAAB 97X ARC with 5.3L v8 and leather (yes it be a fancy GMC Envoy.=) The dealer will typ give you current regional AUCTION values gor your car (GALVES) unless they REALLY want it bad. So it be best you do private sale given there are a LOT of uninformed consumers for you to sell to.

I saw a top ten list for the lowest third year depreciation cars and Yaris was second best. If I recall correctly it came in at 57% of original value after three years. The Mini was the only car better at 58%. 4 or 5 Toyota/Scion vehicles occupied that top ten.

That's so true.
They usually start off with a ridiculous price

These things will be worth a lot more in 3 or 4 years if gas is $5+/gal, otherwise they'll depreciate like any other car.

And you're using an Endeavor for comparison? That's one of the worse vehicles on the market and Mitsu's hold their value like a Hyundai in the '90's. |

Yaris does hold its value quite well. However, I've been watching several several sedans on craigslist, and they've been on there for a couple of weeks, and have come down in price as much as $3,000 in the last few weeks.
