Koni Yellows.
Next best thing to coilovers, for the most part.

I don't think Koni is currently making the Yellow Sports for the Yaris just yet, at least they don't have a part number available in the catalog.

Gr2 shocks work best with stock springs.

If your looking for affordable go with tokico blues with trd springs it will be as good as you can get for under $500 unless bilstein starts making options available to us.

A year ago vogtland used to make a spring/shock combo that used decent springs with bilstein shocks for $5~~ but it looks like that is no longer available.

^ Correct.

No Koni yellows for us.

GR2 is a very slight upgrade from stock.

Tokico red > Tokico blue > TRD > GR2 > stock

I've got the Tokico Blues (Tokico HP). Not a hard-core shock, but better than stock and very reasonably priced (especially from Micro Image!).

I'm thrilled with my TRD Spring and Damper set-up however I'm sure the Tokico Blues would work nicely. In fact, if I need to replace mine I'd likely give the less expensive Blues a try. They were not available when I did my upgrades.
FYI: my TRD dampers are a product of KYB. No doubt the same housings as the GR-2 but with more aggressive valving/damping rates.
