New Tires!

Well I picked up a nail in one of my Bridgestone RE 92s with 41k miles (OEM).
These tires are on the rear and have like 3mm over the wear bars. I was planning to wear them out down to or past the bars but decided to get some new ones for many reasons.

$215 OTD.

Now I have Affinitys on the front and rear. The ones on the front have ~5000 miles on them. So now Im in perfect agreement with the sign on the wall at the tires store that sez put the new tires on the rear so you don't spin out in deteriorating traction conditions. I DID manage to do that two winters ago in a shapr left hand curve doing 15 mph when an SUV doing 30 and passing me on the right came very close to my car. I instinctively turned the wheel a hair more to the left and the spin ensued.

Im getting old!

Next thing you know I be replacing my six year old + battery before winter comes.

Discount Tire Direct has a special going on where it's possbile to get 3 discounts . Manufacuture rebate , they're own discount and another if you use their card . Some tires are under $40 with all 3 . If you don't apply for the card , you can get 2 discounts . There's also free shipping . The new Cooper CS5 is under $35 . Go to these , http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...tPromotions.do and http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...5&rd=15&cs=185 . The sale ends tomorrow and you have to buy 4 tires . The Cooper CS5 Grand Touring are $28.25 ( Tax excluded ) each with all 3 discounts . For 2 discounts it's $43.25 each . The normal price is $77 for the $185/60-15 . May find a cheaper tire of your liking .

Sure they do!!! Or you meant that specific tire? If so then that surprises me too.

Checked later on and they had them but at first search a note came up saying Sorry We Don't Stock Them.

These may be the last ties ever for this car. Firestone sez theyre 70k mile tires. I bought the pair on the front 12/2013 and Ive only gone 6000 miles since then. So that's like 3500 miles a year divided into 70000 = 20 years...

I hope you end up liking having 4 Affinitys better than I did on my blue Yaris. One time I put in an order for the tires I wanted. Went back however many days later and waited while installation occurred. I went out to the car after the install and Affinitys were on the car . I pointed out that those were the wrong tires...not the ones I ordered. They said the Affinitys = a more expensive upgrade at no extra charge . I again pointed out that they weren't the tires that I ordered. They sheepishly had to admit that they forgot to place my order . They asked that I drive on them for up to 30 days....and if I still didn't like them, a normal, scheduled order for the tires I wanted would men that I could swap the Affinitys for the ones I originally wanted at no additional cost. I said fine (because that meant I could effectively milk my purchase fora few more total miles....a months worth of miles....and then new tires). I swapped the Affinitys off the car at the end of that time period. MPG = , and too resistant to air inflation (took too long to put air in)....among other issues. However, driving as few miles as you do etc., some such issues may never come into play . I truly hope you have many trouble free miles .

The only difference Ive ever noticed in tires is traction on snow. And the OEM RE 92s were pretty bad.

They were fine at 85 on the freeway though...
