Touch up paint
Hey guys, just wanted to make a posy about touch up paint. Duplicolor makes quite a few of our OEM colors, but not mine, which is 8t0 blazing blue.
Here is a link to a paint code reference since then auto parts store could not find my code in the OEM location. http://www.toyotareference.com/yaris Anyways I am looking at getting a touch up pen and was wondering if anyone had any luck with colorrite/expresspaint Here is a link to the item on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/ColorRite-Toyo...ords=8t0+paint It seems my choices are a local body shop or these guys. What do you think? |

I always use Automotivetouchup.com. They are very reasonable and I have always found their paint to be spot on.

Here in Canada the dealers have Toyota branded product with a felt tip at one end and a fine point at the other. Perfect match.

Another alternative is to try a specialty auto store. A lot of them can mix different colour paints by weight, to create a near perfect OEM colour match.
I got a spray can for my car for about $80 at Lordco. :) |

Napa should be able to mix a spray can of custom colour for you. Just go there with your paint code. It will take them a while, but for custom paint the price wasn't all that bad when I last checked ($35). Spray paint doesn't leave a shop quality finish, but it will beat the pants off a paint pen. Just make sure you scuff the surface first (you can use one of those green scouring pads for pans) so the paint will adhere. With spray paint, make several passes. It goes on very thin.

I have had very good results with Dr. Colorchip. But like the name implies its designed for paint chips, it is harder to apply to a scratch.
For scratches my first course of action is usually rubbing compound and elbow grease. Of course that's not an option on really deep scratches. |
