2007 Yaris and OBD II
Is '07 Yaris OBD II compatible? I use KAL EQUIP reader on both : my '03 Corolla and daughter's '02 Mazda Protege, and it reads the codes perfectly. Yesterday I hooked it up to my new Yaris, just to check if it works and guess what ....the scanner would repeatedly throw "reading error" message. I tried w/ ignition on and engine on, and w/ignition on and engine off...same result.Any suggestions/opinions ?

Don't scanners need to be flashed with information pertinent to newer model year cars? Maybe you just need a software upgrade?

Yes it just needs to be compatible with can, most scanners you buy now will be can compatible. Check for an upgrade if you cant, just look for one of the $60 ones just check the package for can.

it has to be obd2 compatible, is the law.
most definitely your scanner is outdated as stated above. good luck with the upgrade! |

As stated before your car should and has the OBD II. Its the law and I believe cars made from 1995 and up have it. Of course there are some exceptions before that time. But all cars or most in the U.S. should have them.
