Drive by wire system is sh*tty
So well today im trying to accelerate to get to the next lane. I push the gas pedal all the way to the floor. Nothing happens? I am like what the heck. About 2 seconds later then it goes. My other car with a cable to the throttle is instant throttle response. I wish there was a work around. I am wondering if my weapon r intake has anything to do with this. Perhaps the stock maf sensor close to the throttle can not measure that high of air flow that quickly and takes seconds to respond before the pcm realizes the throttle is at wot and kicks in.

no, its just the dbw system in these cars are crap and are magnetic instead of brush type, so the only fix now is to get the blitz throttle mod or switch to dbc

If someone could reflash these cars you could adjust the gain on the DBW system and make it react faster. For now the Blitz thing is probably the best option.

There was a thread on here prior to the hacking regarding this problem and how to fix it.
sorry i can't help any further , one question though are you running NST pullies ,as these also make a big differance to throtle response. |

I never noticed it was slow in my Yaris, but people keep saying this. Parhaps there are differences between cars...

Pivot makes a throttle controller as well, and it's a couple hundred bucks -- trying to find out more about it.

Who said Yaris was slow?
|
^^^ yeap. Saw it a couple of weeks ago. Looks like it even has more levels of adjustability then the blitz unit. And priced more correctly.
Blitz is way to expensive IMO. This would make a nice add to microimage portfolio... |

Drive by wire is on BOTH the automatic and manual... Essentially, it has nothing to do with the transmission. It is the electronic link between the gas pedal and the throttle body. No throttle cable, it's electronic...

It is more pronounced in the auto because you wait for the throttle to respond, there there is a delay while the transmission downshifts.
