What class are you running in this year?
HS, HSR, STF, SMF, Other..?
I heard the classes have changed a little and they might even be getting rid of the HS class altogether in the future. Right now my car is bone stock and I'm wondering if I should just keep it in HS or go to HSR; although I don't see much difference between the 2 classes that the Yaris could gain from. And I'd have to put too much money into my student daily driver to make it competitive in STF. Conclusion: HS with good tires and seat time is best for the Yaris on a budget What about you? |

You'd be surprised what a good set of tires can do for you. If you're planning on running oem stock tires or anything 140 treadwearor above, then go with HS. Going into HSR means you're up against people with $2k worth of wheels and tires that are purpose made for racing (i.e. Hoosier A6 and the like). If you can swing the money for a second set of tires, then go with the lowest treadwear you can get >= 140--like Toyo Proxes R1R (in 195/50R15).
Also, don't underestimate the wear your tires will experience. The harder you drive, the shorter they will last, especially if you commute with them. That alone was incentive enough for me to get a dedicated race set. |

^what he said
I ran STF most of last year. Had to run a different car and a rental a few event when I hit the deer that dropped me.. I have decided to go FSP for a few events, then SMF when I get my standalone this year and just compete against RAW times. I got some parts that I wanna go ahead and put on my car for when I go turbo. It's killing me having them sit in the garage and collect dust.

STF this year, getting some pimp shocks so maybe I'll actually be fast...probably unlikely though.
