Thought I'd post it in this section as well since it's a DIY task.

Ok, lets put it this way, i baught 6.5" speakers for the back, NOT KNOWING that the bracket and size of the rear is 5"25". I cannot find any 5"25 spacers/brakets that will fit in the rear. So i have to make my own.

You need these because if you decide to replace your stock speakers, you won't have any bracket/spacers to use with your aftermarket speaker unless it comes with one. Most aftermarket speakers do not come with brackets because the screw holes are all different among all the car manufacturers.
Car speakers are mounted in one of the following ways: Door Metal - Bracket - Speaker Door Metal - Speaker/Bracket The Toyota OEM speakers have the bracket mounted right into them. The speaker and bracket are integrated as one piece, and if you remove the OEM speaker all you have is a very large hole in the metal and your speaker will not fit. You can perform a hack job of sorts by destroying (gutting) the speaker from the bracket assembly and then mounting your aftermarket speaker into what's left of the OEM speaker/bracket assembly. But I don't suggest this unless you are planning to trash the OEM speakers anyway. You will also need this if you ever install medium to high end speakers because med-high end speakers have larger mounting depths and bigger magnets which will definitely make contact with your window, metal or any other object if it is not properly raised with a spacer. Custom spacers/brackets also help with sound dampening as it ensures that your speaker is sitting flush and flat against the spacer, and if done correctly, your spacer should also sit flush and flat with the door's metal. You want to reduce any amount of "dead air" between the speaker, bracket, and metal for the best sound reproduction.

Nice job! Almost a year ago I wanted to replace the stock speakers but didn't because of this reason. I have since seen brackets available from crutchfield but have yet to upgrade my speakers. Maybe now I'll use this DIY and save some money.
