Side Exit Exhaust

I just wanted to share this with the Yaris community as I just finished it up tonight but I've built a side exit exhaust for my Yaris. Yes its loud much louder than you'd imaging a Yaris can be.

Also I'm assuming you're not running a muffler, just header, cats, and resonator?

This is a full 2.25" mid pipe all the way down. Its got a single cat in the front and a muffler where the resonator used to be but nothing after that.

I took the OBX pipe from Jason and modified it to my needs. This whole setup is quite a bit lighter than the stock exhaust that I removed from the car.

Is this setup going to cause you problems passing a smog test?

With one cat gone and no resonator...should sound aggressive

Make sure you get start up and WOT in the video

Probably, although i'm sure it would pass the sniffer I wouldn't dream of driving this exhaust on the street. Side exhausts have a few problems that make them not ideal for driving on the street, one of the biggies is that you have reduced ground clearance so you have to be extra careful over speed bumps and pot holes.
For my needs it works pretty well as this setup will weigh at least 5 lbs less than a similar rear exit exhaust plus I get the move all the muffler weight inboard and in front of the axle. Plus its a side exhaust so its cool

It only takes 15 minutes to swap back to the stock exhaust since its only 4 bolts so its only going to be used for racing events since I'm a bit nervous about the police harassing me if I drove it on the streets.

We have six years, tooter - and since it's a bolt on that is easily removed, I think it presents no problem.
Would be interesting to roll into a test-only station though!

but yeah... VIDS!

Thanks for the info, Garm.
You can tell it's been a while since we've had a new vehicle, with a 19 year old Hyundai and a 14 year old Tacoma.

Yep the id of the pipe is 2.25" it feels like there's a loss of torque below 2k but no dyno to say for sure. Here's the video I just let it idle and took it around the block.

the idle is pretty loud. i half expected the car to be WAY louder, but then the video recorder was inside the car. Sounds pretty neat, though
