Stalling and restarting issue
I have a 2012 yaris and have owned 3 months. The car runs fine but I've had one niggly issue which has happened only twice.
My wife stalled the car a few times on the drive one morning due to the high clutch. After stalling on second ocassion the engine would keep turning but car wouldn't start. Had to leave it for 2 mins before starting and then worked. Another ocassion I started car in morning and got to top of hill on my road and stalled at the junction. The car had only been running 1 minute. I tried restarting and had same issue with engine turning and car not starting. After 1 minute retried and it started fine. I Heard before that engines can become flooded if you try to restart car too many times in quick succession. Given that this has only occurred when car has immediately been stalled after initial morning start up, does this indicate engine flooding, hence why it starts after waiting 1 minute? Or is there a wider issue? |

Btw when car has stalled on both occasions it has been on a sloping drive and a sloping hill, albeit both sloping car in opposite directions (just in case that makes difference)

Just a guess but I would think flooding. Giving too much gas, then stalling, trying to restart while giving it more gas..

Thing is I never apply the gas when starting as it's never needs it. Reason being that when I apply gas it appears to be "overkill" and almost interferes with the natural starting motion when engine turns.

You need a scanner.
Here in the US the big box auto stores will do it at no charge or loan you one to do it. I out of ideas. Maybe someone else will chime in. Norton |

Next time it stalls, instead of just restarting, try switch it to OFF before switching it back to ON/ACC, wait a few sec again and then start..
