2010 Yaris purchase today? advice please

Good morning - looking at buying a 2010 Yaris 3 door liftback with 66,000 km for around CDN$6,000. Going to get my mechanic to check it out in a few hours then going to make a decision. Anything specific to look out for before I make this purchase? Thanks! TDC

It's a much better car than the 2007-2008 and at that mileage it's barely broken in. Price is reasonable.

Is it a manual? You'll have to get used to the odd-feeling accelerator and clutch takeup.

Honestly, based on everything I have read about the manual-transmission Yaris pre-2015 (clutch was redesigned in 2015 model), I would opt for the automatic.

I really wish I had a chance to drive an older manual Yaris, just for comparison purposes with my 2015 - which I like as a manual. I need to find a used one for sale at some local dealer and go test drive it.

We bought it! :D

So what is it that people find odd about the clutch? I haven't found anything odd yet...?

Thanks

Congrats!

In respect to the clutch, I wouldn't go so far as to say I would opt for an auto over 2007-2014 manual, but I noticed a difference coming from my Honda Civic. I assume it has more to do with the by-wire throttle (more sensitive than a cable throttle) than a problem with the clutch itself. When I first got my car, I found myself revving more than I wanted when engaging the clutch. Took a little time to get used to, that's all. If you hopped in the car and took right to it, don't lose any sleep over it, you're good to go.

I have a 2010 5 Door yaris with a Manaul transmission

i have No problem with the clutch. Maybe becuase I've driven a lot of gutless cars and learned how to drive a standard 40 years ago.

The Yaris can be quite a lot of fun with a manual tranmission. Pick your gear range and let it go. Almost zippy.

You do you have to let the clutch slip leaving in first as you always should. it's not a switch. I get smooth take-off.

And before anyone talks about my driving style reducing clutch life, my last car (1998 Altima) had 230K on the original clutch and still hodling strong. My 85 Corolla had 165K on the original clutch when it got in an accident

Go for the manual - If you like rowing through your own gears it will be no problem

it really is more about the drive by wire throttle than the clutch. Although it would be nice to be able to actually feel where the clutch engagement point is.
