No electric shock exit - Toyota Yaris Forums

I've found the most effective way to prevent the electric shock when exiting the car is to rest one knuckle on the door glass as I open the door and get out. Use the right hand.

Sorry, no photos cause I figured this DIY is self-explanatory.

I was once told by a tech at Toyota that ..... shocks when you exit can be an indicator of the charging system going bad.

I don't know how true it is but I do not get shocked on mine. Maybe in the dead of winter when the air is much drier it could change.

The relative humidity has been extremely low in southern California for this last week. It's been running 5-10% lately, thus we're getting a lot of static shocks (and wildfires).

with the colder weather and lower humidity i've been getting shocked more recently too. As long as you make contact with any metal body panel as you are getting off your seat, you will transfer the energy through that contact and wont be shocked.
I got used to either holding onto the chassis door frame or top of the door as I get out of the car.
