I'm torn about it being rice or not, I really like seeing imports with foreign license plates, be it European or Japanese. (I saw a Toyota rebadged to a Hilux with a Kuwait license plate, I thought that was pretty cool.)
If you're going to do it, do it right. Which means, don't buy from that site. The top two numbers you see on the plate are the vehicle class code, for our vehicles (less than 2000cc) it's going to be a 5 class, (3 class are for more than 2000cc) you can choose whatever number you like on there, but they only allow two digits. Two digit vehicle class codes ceased before the year 2000, so all recent vehicles have a three digit vehicle class code. (Examples for ours would be 530, 500, or 501) The characters before the vehicle class code is the prefecture, and the one in the link doesn't make any sense, and most poor replicas use those two characters, either in that order or sometimes swapped. (Correct examples would be 長崎 for Nagasaki, or 品川 for Shinagawa prefecture) Also Passenger vehicles are green text on a white plate with no painted border as seen as those in the link. Lastly, the hiragana before the large numbers on the bottom are incorrect. The character seen on the plate is for light private vehicles (less than 660cc like Kei cars) and not private vehicles more than 660cc. The best option would be to look for plates on ebay, but if you want a place to buy a custom plate for, this would be the next best thing, at least for authenticity: http://www.licenseplates.tv/cat/japan_638.html |

I have one that came of a bB when I had mine. I have one of the green light up ones. That cost me a bit of money. I am trying to find one that came of a Belta right now. It helps having friends in Japan.

やりすぎだ~

A little correction. The Japanese characters on the top part of the plate is the location of registration - not necessarily prefecture. One of the most popular is probably Shinagawa Ward in Tokyo.
