Is this a vapor issue? Engine hesitating on hot start
Hi!
Can anyone diagnose potential issues as recorded in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k540rd5XpII The engine starts like this ONLY after the car has been started shortly prior. For example, starting in the morning there is no issue. Starting after work with no run for 8 hours, no problem. Start after being at the grocery store for 15 minutes, the above happens. This also only happens about 75% of the time. It also seems to be less persistent if I click the ignition to "on" prior to starting the engine. 2006; Manual transmission; 315,000 km. I've done some reading on other threads - vapor issue seems most likely, but can I get that cleared with a quicky-fuel system service, or should I do fuel injectors (they have about 180,000km on them and spark plugs (also 180,000km) at the same time? I would like to spend the least amount of money possible but would also like to get as long as possible out this car as i've been 'playing with dealer's money' for about 10 years and I love not having a car payment. Thanks! |

I'd try cleaning those injectors but a fuel pressure test when its acting up would help you figure if they are bleeding down.

I'd check for a vacuum leak.
Easy but messy way is to start motor and begin to fog area's with WD 40. If there is a change in idle you have a leak. |

So what happens over time is the due vent valve, or sometimes called purge vsv can start to not work as good and fuel vapors go leak into engine and when you go to start up again it will kinda sort of flood it for a second, now it doesn’t happen when it sits for a long time because the fuel vapors are already gone by then.
