Transmission & Reverse

Hello,

Yesterday, I was driving around 45/50 MPH and my cars transmission felt as though it jumped into gear. After it did this, I smelled a strong metal smell for about a minute. I physically felt the transmission jump into gear. I checked the transmission fluid, and it was pink and did not smell. This has only happened once, and has never happened before. I have always complained about my transmission feeling as though something is holding it back from day one. I have had it looked at and Toyota claims its fine.

When I put my car in reverse, and have my foot on the brake, the engine rattles and makes a vibration sound. This is recent also.

I have had my water pump replaced before under warranty because it broke.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I/Toyota should look at concerning the transmission? Does it sound bad?
