hey, you should plug the side mirror led to the interior dome light.
so that when you unlock your doors, they light up. and open your doors, they light up. (just my opinion) but this is how side mirror lights should work. I was driving a ford freestyle last month.. and this is how it worked. |

I sort of have it wired that way. I tapped the White LED power wire from the mirror to the parking light power wires. When I arm/disarm my alarm, the LED lights will flash. Same applies if I use the key fob to unlock/lock the doors. I didn't want the white LED lights to be on immediately as the DRLs are activated. Instead, they will turn on when I turn the headlights on since they are tapped to the parking light bulbs which only turn on when the headlights are on.

that's an interesting idea though, IllusionX, you could add a couple of LEDs under the side mirror, shining at the bottom of the door, to work as a stepping area light, like some fancier cars have
