Sedan owners
I have a question about your instrument cluster dimmer switch.
when you roll it all the way up it gets brighter, then when you pass the "click" at the top does it get fully bright or does it turn off? I ask because I have seen three different sedans in the rental fleet that do this and I'm not sure if that is what they should be doing or not. REMEMBER THIS IS FOR THE SEDANS ONLY NOT THE LIFTBACKS thanks! |

never looked. Will have to try this.
Although my friends tC did this before. Probably due to a load on the electrical circuit. |

ok thats what I was wanting to find out....This is the first Toyota model I've seen (on the lot) that cuts the power after the click. usually the click makes the rheostat push the highest voltage setting to emit the most light.....meanwhile turning the dial all the way down is supposed to dim the instrument panel display....
weird..... |

I'll have to check that out. I've never needed to turned it up full bright.

Well, what happens is this: Because the instrument panel is covered, there are times when it's cloudy and the day is not that bright, so you turn on your headlights, this turns your instrument guage into 'night mode' by dimming the fuel gauge light panel and turning on the light on the guages. However, sometimes I find it that the fuel gauge light is too dim during these times when it's not yet night, but it's not bright outside. So once you pass the click on the dial, it allows you to have your headlights on, but also have your guage on regular mode, not night mode.
I use this very frequently, and then you can tell that you your lights are still on because you will see the little headlight bulb on your dash turn on. |
