An accident but car not under your name

just curious about six years ago(2001-2002) i had three accidents within that time frame, but the car was under my father's name.

does this affect me in regards to insurance rates? or does it only affect the insured person?

just curious, cause everyone has such good rates compared to me.

I am not sure about your state, but the companies in Colorado usually only go back 3-5 years for driving and claim records. DUI's might be an exception. Therefore after 6 years I don't think these accidents would count against you. Get some other bids from other companies before your next premium comes due.

That is true depending on the state. I believe that it is 3-5 for most so, if it's been 6 years your slate should be clean.

My stepson drives a car that I own, he's listed as the primary driver. Because he has received two tickets and has two points on his record, our rate goes up in March when the policy renews. He will be responsible for the difference.

I think if there are points on your record (3 years in CA) it will affect your rate if you are taking out your own insurance policy.

yeah... 3/5 ticket/collision was the rule in WA state. I'm clean again next summer. had a claim back in 04, only 1 ticket ever, that was back in 01.
